Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 4

Ok, I've been slacking lately but now have the fixings to do fleece hoodies for my kids as well as PJ's! Yayyyy!

This morning I tried to put this Osh Kosh overall dress on dd3 size 3t. It's WAYYYYYYYYY too short! But the top part, the bib, fits fine. What should I do? twirl skirt the bottom? regular "A" shape (no panels) with a ruffle? What has any of you done in this situation?

Fleece hoodies! Oh, that sounds cute - if you don't mind me asking, what pattern are you using? Both my kiddos just LOVE hoodies!

I'm doing the twirl skirt thing with an overall dress hand-me-down. I just cut off the regular skirt part and will attach a twirly skirt to the "bib" part - with chip-n-dale fabric for the Fort Wilderness campfire!

Steph, I can knit fur cuffs for you...it'll take like a nano-second. LMK when you need them and what color you want. It'll have to wait till I get back from WDW though.

On that note...I just popped in to see what's happening. I am trying to get my MIL to take her laptop w/ us on vacation so I can stay plugged in. I have NOT finished the patchwork dress... Though I've modified the design and ran out of contrasting ruffle fabric...another trip to Joanns I DON'T have time for. I have been instructed that NO sewing is to take place until I do some laundry for the trip, catch up the dishes and vaccuum the living room. You know, pre-vacation cleaning :headache: I went to bed last night at 10 w/ a super stress headache and woke up around 1:30 incredibly nauseaus (sp) I was laying on the bathroom floor for a while then got back into bed w/ lily rolling around on top of me...I don't know who passed out first, me or her but I felt better this morning. I hope it was bad food, or stress and not me getting sick just before vacation. THAT would suck. I still have hopes of getting my little calico outfit done before friday am.... hopefully I will finish the patchwork dress tonight and have the house clean so tomorrow night while DH is at poker I can get the calico dress done. We'll see...

I gotta run back home and get some housework outta the way so I can sew (after I stop at Joann's of course!!)

3 MORE DAYS!!!

I have done twirl skirts on my girls overall dresses. I love the way they turn out. So cute. Good Luck.

Oscar looks like he gives SLURPY wet kisses! He does nees a boutique outfit! Like Buzz Lightyear or Mater (wouldn't that be cute!)

I don't have a girl so I shouldn't chime in...but, when has that ever stopped me. :rotfl2: I think it would be cute to change the bottom into a skirt and then put extra patches on it. I saw some jeans the other day someone changed into a skirt. Let me see if I can find it...
hmm not the ones I remembered but, I found some cute ones that are similar. The lady on craftster is great! Maybe we should stalk her and get her to 'one of us'. ;)

That Craftster lady is good. I love those hats! I've seen a few other things she's made, too.

Awwe, very special pixie dust for me, I feel better already. Now my work her at work is done and I really MUST be off to get some stuff done or we'll NEVER get to disney.

Ok, I'm going waaay outta my comfort zone & attempting to post photos of some of my "creations". Why do I all of a sudden have images of a mad scientist cackling?! lol! These are for all those that requested....

This is the Mickey quilt I made for our plane ride to Disneyland. I don't have a full photo of it, I guess I'll have to retake one later. I made the Wilton Mickey cookies on a stick, dipped the ears in chocolate for my 2 DS the night before we left....that's the goob that they're holding in the photo, anyway.....

Is the suspense killin' you? Well, apparently y'all have to wait because my posts are too low to put in links or photos just yet. sorry

oh just post a couple replies and you'll have the ability

Here is my latest twirl skirt. This is from the sock monkey fabric. My mom *forced* me to go to the quilt fabric shop. They have "charm packs" where the fabric is already cut into 5x5 squares so that made this a little easier, plus the better fabric is so much nicer to sew with.

I love the triangle ruffle!!!!!! OMGosh! SOCK MONKEYS

That is one cool skirt! I predict a LOT of copy cats (cough) soon!!!!

I love quilt shop fabric. It's so nice to be spoiled in such a simple way :cloud9: .

There's this Witchy Underwear fabric I'm eyeballing and will get for next year!

I decided what to do with my Osh Kosh overall bodice thingie!!!!

I cut off the skirt that was way too short, and am fixing to make a twirl skirt bottom and attach...BUT! The seams will be to the OUTSIDE!!!! I'll overcast to prevent too much unraveling, but I think it'll be adorable. At least it sounds good in my head.

I love this fabric! I just watched a pair of overalls for a baby boy on :wizard: go for over $200 that were so cute! This is a great job! My girls would love that twirl!

OK, lets see, for my 2 boys ages 7 and 9 I'm using McCall's M5229 (with the hood), and for my dd3 McCalls M5223 with a separate hat. For me and DH, McCalls 9581 with Hood for me without for him. My DS 18 doesn't know (yet).

I'm making mine a few inches longer to cover my danger zone...:rolleyes1

The Chip and Dale twirl skirt attached to the bib sounds so cute!!! Pictures!

How about I just buy them, then you can be the only ones in town with them! No, I don't crochet but I would love to see pictures of them. They sound really neat! Does she take internet orders?

I took some pictures today, I'll try to get them up later. I'm hoping to get DD10 to model as DD2 was a bit uncooperative. I will also post all the different colors she has made me.

Oh My - I love the triangular ruffle thingy-ma-bobber... how in the world did you do that???

Excellent sock monkey skirt!!!
Expect ME to be casing the triangle finish in the near future since "SOMEBODY":rolleyes1 decided the fabric "she" picked out was too dark so "she" added some brighter colors then once the patches were sewn together decided that now there wasn't ENOUGH black so "her" idea for fixing this was to add a black ruffle between each tier which meant a double ruffle on the hemline and of course a ruffle under the corset bodice "she" just HAD to have (it makes it kinda "witchy", right?) so now this person, who shall remain nameless is UP TO HER EYEBALLS in ruffles. and is currently going insane.

I really am leaving the office now, I've been fighting w/ my computer....

UTAHMAMA- I think that you could just do an A-line skirt on the jumper if you'd like, a twirl would be great, there is a pic of a non-dis patchwork one in the photobucket w/ tulle under it, it is ADORABLE I've been wanting to CASE it since like my first day on the board, but have been getting my dis outfits ready for the trip...BUT if you wanted something simple and different an aline skirt or circle skirt would be just as cute.

Welcome to Cindy B..I'd give a welcome smiley, but I really am dashing out of here!!
Hope you can post those outfits soon. And don't worry if you've been lurking here you'll know that a lot of us are beginners and just getting our footing...

Oh and TOM..I ran into your outfits on :wizard: too, but I'll admit I was just looking for ideas to CASE and looking out for names / outfits I knew from here. I think it is great that your first outfits listed are doing SEW well!!!
I am currenty going to school to become a teacher and my goal is to spend the next 3 years "practicing" and maybe taking a few sewing classes so that during my summers I can maybe make a little money w/ an online boutique or auction sites. I know not everyone can make $$$ w/ their craft but it's a dream, just to be able to bring in a little extra during the summer when I'm home w/ the kiddos. For now I'll keep practicing
CONGRATULATIONS on your success!!!

I'll try to get back to you guys before I leave friday...hopefully w/ a finished piece or 2...if I come to work tomorrow I will TOTALLY be here. But I might try to beg off to do my sewing;)
