Just spray it on the fabric and iron as usual. I've been doing it to my fabric before sewing with it. I read a tip somewhere to spray starch the fabric because it made sewing easier--the fabric's less flipsy flopsy. I didn't get the heavy duty kind. I just picked one that said no white mess and something about making it feel nicer. There was one with Teflon for stain resistance. I should have grabbed that to coat my 2 year old with every morning.

I've never used it before, so these may be dumb questions... but, do you soak it and let it dry before ironing or just lightly spray it and iron it damp? Also, do you spray it on the wrong or right side of the fabric?

Doesn't matter to spray on right or wrong side. I just lightly spray and iron at the appropriate setting for the fabric. It'll make a sizzling sound but it's ok.


So crisp and easy to sew on! I am now an iron-er!

Hey, if you were coming at the same time we were you would have gotten a shirt too! I'm actually going to be meeting up with Gmax, and Cherokeemamma while I'm there. I was hoping to make it a reunion tour but at least one person in the group is going at a different time than we are. Hmmmmmm

We're really going to miss seeing you there. I almost thought about extending my stay a few more days, I'll be there until the 18th, but my family probably would kill me.

They are going to be stylin' at Animal Kingdom! Great idea on the CROCs decorations! I like the redneck option of course.

Did you do Jesse's face all applique? Or is some of it painted? Pretty darn good, Eeyore!

Ha, you noticed! I did use paint on the hat stitches and the eyes. I didnt want to try to applique the small stuff since I'm not that good at it yet. But my dd absolutely loves it and doesnt want to take it off. So I'm a hit with her at least. Yes my littlest dd is a poser. If you say "Model" she just struts. It's so funny to watch. I guess I could think of worse things for her to do...

My sister and I just bought the animals print that you have in this skirt. She is working on a twirly skirt with it I believe. I love the way it looks in these stripwork skirts too! Your daughter's all look so adorable! And, I love the way you decorated the Crocs! Great job on all these outfits!!

Thank you! I kind of wish I hadnt used the one with the animals on it. I think I would have liked it better with just the animal prints themselves. And after seeing the animal prints with the red polka dots, well let's just say I have 12 yards of said material just sitting around and that would have been a perfect use of it! I just bought them black leggings to wear under the skirt to make it more "hip" for the older girls. That made them smile more than they did in the picture.

Here's the Lilo dress that gave me the fits while I was trying to shirr it, modeled by my beautiful little daughter, Lydia Rose:

I did one of those little ribbon loop things on the back to help hold it all up, and I think that style looks really cute!


I mixed my characters, and used Flounder ribbon for the straps. Lydia is absolutely thrilled with the dress!

The dress and your daughter are both adorable! My dd loves Lilo but I havent seen the fabric anywhere.

Ok, I have finally finished this outfit! I had completed the jumper part a week ago and it was way too short. I knew it was going to be, but I only ordered a yard of the fabric online so I was stuck. I am the opposite of most of you, when I am up at the fabric counter I panic and yell "one yard!" DH suggested bloomers (duh, why didn't I think of that!) and here we are. I rummaged through my scrapbooking supplies and found the ribbon with polka dots on it. I looked at Teresa's bookmarks to find out how to make a bow (I am ribbon-challenged) and safety pinned it on. Thanks for looking!

My mother will iron absolutely NOTHING when she sews. It drives me crazy!! I have to make sure I press every seam. I like to use Spray starch with sizing. Any way, I was pressing away and all of a sudden it smelled terrible. I'm wondering what that horrible smell was. I looked at the can of starch, and it wasn't starch. It was spray glue. Now I make sure I double check what can is sitting on the end of the ironing board.

I thought that only happened at MY house...

OMG they look adorable together!!! I just learned to sew and I've not made anything with sleeves yet and I'm scared... I'm also scared of appliques, patterns (I've never used one) buttonholes, shirring, zippers, cutting my Minnie dot, etc. Thank goodness for $1/yd fabric for practice!

I made DD a Ravens set (Baltimore native here) last night. It is jeans with Raven fabric ruffle and a pillowcase dress to match. I have embellished with black and white dot ribbon and yellow ribbon. I tried it on her this morning and she is soooooo skinny I need to take the sides in some more. Do you know what DH said? Those tops (meaning pillowcase dresses) are so "ghetto." What does he know? I stayed up til midnight working on this---no machine so it's all by hand and he calls it ghetto. Urrrrr! I will post pics this weekend.

Again everyone's outfits are amazing.. I am working on a tinkerbell set for dd - nothing fancy like these that I have seen here, but still a cute little jumper and capri/jeans (if I can get them done)!!! Hopefully it goes over better than the pirate skirt and shirt did!

I have yet ANOTHER question... The jumpers I see here - what pattern are you all using for them - the one's that are like twirly tops... the other question I have is on the apron tops - what pattern are you using for those as well... my sewing skills are minimal but I can follow a pattern persay... I think I am going to head to the world of hancock's at lunch tomorrow and I was going to see if I could find it!

Btw- Stephers - that orange and blue bag is beautifully ugly - I have to agree with your DH - it wouldn't be in this house unless green and orange, or black and gold (GO CANES and STEELERS!!)!!! Great job on it though!

What do they know! My DH doesn't get the custom thing either. He thinks the outfits are over the top. I am sure your dresses are not ghetto! I can't wait to see them.

This might be good bye for me for a little bit. We are going out of town later this week and our older dog is sick so I'm going to take her to the vet later (wish us luck). I can't even imagine how much I'm going to miss out on while we're gone!

Hello! We are Ravens season ticket owners! I haven't made my daughter anything for the Ravens yet. I'd love to see your outfit! We only VERY rarely have any Ravens stuff for sale around here. Crazy 'cause there is always tons of Redskins (yuck!) and Nationals and Orioles, but not Ravens. The dark purple must not be popular here on the shore.

I am buying a bunch of custom bottlecaps from ebay to make DD4 necklaces to match her custom outfiits. Where do you buy your beads ro get them at the best price? What is easy and best to string them on? I love the beads with the little rhinestones in them, but don't know what they are called? Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated!

cant wait to see it! im working on a ravens twirl skirt for dd! shes not into football but dh will think its cute. i also mader her an orioles themed skirt for her first game- orange black and white- which can be used again next month at halloween!

I don't know if this is what you are talking about ... but I bought some beads at Walmart- - round beads with rhinestones randomly dotting the outside of the bead... they were bright pastel colors (if that makes any sense). They were called bling bling beads.

I hate it too and usually avoid anything that can't be sprayed with Downy Wrinkle Release. I grabbed some spray starch at Target to use for ironing fabric to sew, and it's AMAZING the difference it makes! This may be well known to everyone except me, but just in case I thought I would throw the suggestion out there.

For those of you that have ironing woes.... I always use "Magic Sizing" It is in a blue can near the spray starch at wall mart or Target. It honestly makes ironing fun (well, almost) I never sew without it. It also holds up pretty well when you pack and it won't gum up your iron. I even usually pack a bottle to take on trips. No use sewing lovely customs and having them all wrinkly.
