Hi friends! I'm in search of ANY and ALL Disney fabric SCRAPS....Princesses, Pixar pals, Mickey or any of the Fab Five, Classic characters....absolutely ANYTHING Disney related for a very special project I'm working on. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm done. I'm looking for cotton fabric scraps at least 4" x 4" but no bigger than what would fold up nice and thin to fit in a first class envelope. If you have a few different character scraps you think I could use...even better. Don't worry, they don't need to be cut all nice and pretty. Fabric cuttting leftovers are PERFECT. I'm just looking for basically the stuff most people would throw away.

Please PM me if you have any scraps you can spare. I'll gladly send an SASE your way.

Thanks so much for your help (and the pixie dust). I'm *so* excited for this next project!! :flower3

By the way-

We booked our trip today! WoooHoooooooooooooooo!

205 days to go!

Those are always fantastically happy days for me!!:yay: The last time I booked I was having a bad day and that just made it all better instantly!

Lets talk bows for a minutes... anyone have a good source that wont break the bank. I would like a couple sets to match the girls outfits. I just dont know if I will have time to make them since we leave in 2 week:scared:

There are some deals to be had on a particular auction site. I make bows but right now I have so much on my plate I'd be afraid to commit. They are super easy to make and ribbon can be VERY cheap to buy...Check this link for some directions on making them. http://bowdesigns.50webs.com/index.html

We'll be there Sept 14 too. Gracie will be wearing this.

If you decide to sell any of the gorgeous outfits you have for Gracie please make sure to post a heads up on this thread or PM me:) I certainly would understand if you kept them though. Everything you've posted is simply amazing. I'm thinking my Delaney will be about Gracie's size when we go in april and it's hard to find customs for the smaller sizes.

I'm leaving in a few days...well actually 2 weeks and I don't even have my dining planned let alone their outfits. I don't know why..but I can't seem to plan anything. I was thinking of special outfits for our Ohana breakfast, but I just don't know....They do have their seaworld outfits, MGM, and I'm working on Animal Kingdom...LOL...Of course the seaworld needs elastic in the waist, MGM needs a ribbon for the neck...and of course bows...Oh my...I'd better get going...LOL

YIKES.. Will you be there during free dinning? I have read most Table services are all booked up.

I have tons of them...LOL...I'm curious as to what you are making...:rotfl:

Ok, here's what I've done so far!
My first custom! For DD's first day of preschool
front

Here's my take on the pirate corset/tutu set. I still need to make a peasant top to wear with this.

My next project - my DS's pirate costume for MNSSHP, and then a custom form the Epcot fabric.

Thanks everyone for inspiring me to get to work and make something fun for my kiddos!

Excellent job! I love the first one - perfect for school.

What pattern did you use for the top? Did you have to modify it for the double skirt? You have inspired me!

I used McCalls 4814 for the bodice only. The rest of it, well, I just flew by the seat of my pants. I did two layers that were the same width, gathered them up and sewed them to the bodice. I know, not very technical at all. I'm sure many experts here are cringing! But, hey, it worked!

Any from Louisville, Ky area? My mom called me tonight from walmart and apparently they had lots of disney fabrics. I may head over in the morning. SHe called to see if I wanted the minnie dot. I contained myself and only had her p/u 3yds. (I already have 5yds from hancock's and I still don't have a sewing maching or know how to sew:rotfl2: )

Also for those of you wanting a new machine. If you have a costco in your area they have a coupon starting Aug 13-19. for a "Brother 70 stitch computerized sewing machine" It's a model xr7700.It's orig 179.99 and will be 144.99 w/ coupon. (online price is $10 more) Here's the link to the machinehttp://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11222787&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US&s=1 If one of you more "professional" sewers wouldn't mind taking a look I'd appreciate your feedback. By the way it says it includes 10 sewing feet with all the ruffler talk I assume is a good thing.:confused3

Thanks everyone on all the kind comments about both the outfits and my DD. She is so much fun to sew for! I've had lots of fun thinking up lots of fun things to make her wear!

To anyone that has made the halter style dress. How long are the straps to go around the neck and leave some to hang down for a 6 y/o? Thanks for any help.

Revrob- great job on both the outfits. I just love that back to school print.

I love the Snow White outfit. The collar is great. What pattern did you use? It seems like there were a lot of extra touches. Would you mind sharing?

I cannot figure out how to quote another person's post - sorry. I just wanted to say thanks to Lisa :goodvibes for her answers to my applique questions!!! I really appreciate everyone sharing their ideas and knowledge on this thread.

Thanks again Lisa - I cannot wait to go to Joann's on Friday and pick up some more supplies!

Everyone's outfits and children are adorable!

Does your machine have a coverstitch? Mine came with a foot for it, but I don't think you *need* the special foot. I just made a pair of shorts using a coverstitch for the leg and middle seams and it looks so nice and neat. My granny would be impressed. :)

This is dumb but what stitch is this on the sewing machine? :confused3 I don't think I have it on my current machine, but I think my new one might have it!!!!

Again everyone's outfits are amazing.. I am working on a tinkerbell set for dd - nothing fancy like these that I have seen here, but still a cute little jumper and capri/jeans (if I can get them done)!!! Hopefully it goes over better than the pirate skirt and shirt did!

I have yet ANOTHER question... The jumpers I see here - what pattern are you all using for them - the one's that are like twirly tops... the other question I have is on the apron tops - what pattern are you using for those as well... my sewing skills are minimal but I can follow a pattern persay... I think I am going to head to the world of hancock's at lunch tomorrow and I was going to see if I could find it!

Thanks - I have learned sooo much from this board...

Btw- Stephers - that orange and blue bag is beautifully ugly - I have to agree with your DH - it wouldn't be in this house unless green and orange, or black and gold (GO CANES and STEELERS!!)!!! Great job on it though!

Kristina

If you go to the photobucket page:
http://s204.photobucket.com/albums/bb256/disboutique/
There is a subfolder for fabrics/patterns and there are some pictures of pattern envelopes that people have used. I know the apron top is on there. I just looked it up and it's Butterick 5019 for the apron top.

Ok, I have finally finished this outfit! I had completed the jumper part a week ago and it was way too short. I knew it was going to be, but I only ordered a yard of the fabric online so I was stuck. I am the opposite of most of you, when I am up at the fabric counter I panic and yell "one yard!" DH suggested bloomers (duh, why didn't I think of that!) and here we are.

Very cute!! I love seeing the outfits made with the Minnie dot, but I'm too chicken to cut into mine!!! Even though I just bought five more yds at WM!

I need to make our Ohana outfits also!! I bought the Elvis fabric, but it's still waiting for me to tie up all my loose ends also. I need to finish stitching the bows on the girls' bucket hats for AK, make ribbon socks & hairbows to match some outfits, print and iron on some DISigns, applique Ariel capris, and the list goes on and on!!

I hate it too and usually avoid anything that can't be sprayed with Downy Wrinkle Release. I grabbed some spray starch at Target to use for ironing fabric to sew, and it's AMAZING the difference it makes! This may be well known to everyone except me, but just in case I thought I would throw the suggestion out there. :)

How exactly do you use the starch? I hate to iron too, I think it's bad enough that I have to wash, dry and iron all my fabric before I even start cutting it for anything. I also love Downy Wrinkle Release!! (almost as much as my seam ripper!)

Great job on your preschool outfit and pirate tutu, they look great and your dd is adorable and seems to love her new customs!

If you're anything like me, you'll want one that automatically shuts off. I can't tell you how many times I have just left it there!

I 2nd that opinion!!!!!

This is dumb but what stitch is this on the sewing machine? :confused3 I don't think I have it on my current machine, but I think my new one might have it!!!!

I have a touch-screen on my machine, and I just went through touching the different stitches to see what they were. I saw "Coverstitch" and thought, "Hmmm..." and tried it on a scrap of fabric. Mine also tells what foot to use and puts a little picture of the foot up there when you select the stitch. The picture of it looks like two parallel lines with a tight zig-zag between them, but there are a couple similar to it as well. An overlock stitch and one other that I can't remember the name of right now.

That's probably not very helpful! What's your new machine; maybe someone can say yay or nay for sure, or maybe google could tell you for sure.

Just spray it on the fabric and iron as usual. I've been doing it to my fabric before sewing with it. I read a tip somewhere to spray starch the fabric because it made sewing easier--the fabric's less flipsy flopsy. I didn't get the heavy duty kind. I just picked one that said no white mess and something about making it feel nicer. There was one with Teflon for stain resistance. I should have grabbed that to coat my 2 year old with every morning. ;)

I think you have to do about 15 posts to be able to post pictures. Another member suggested that I go to the Community Board and post on the thread where people were wishing other members a happy birthday. I wished 15 DISers a happy birthday, uploaded some pics to photobucket, and I was able to add them to a post.:yay:

I have posted more than 15 post and I still cann't put pics in my post does anyone have any advise?
