Hi Everyone!! Love all the new creations! Looks like everyone has been busy! Well I got the mermaid outfit done. I gave it to my friends DD tonight, and she is in the bottom picture wearing it. It's too big :( Her mom doesn't care, they seem to love it. I had her tried on the very top piece a week ago and it seemed to snug to me, so I started over:headache: ... Sure she will grow into it, but I wanted it to fit better. I am going to make her a better fitting one to match my DD. I had to share though. I will try to remember to post pictures tomorrow of my DD from the wedding. She was a stinker and when it came time to actually be the flower girl she chickened out. I thought that might happen!

I couldn't find any red that I liked, so I went with the mermaid, and put some more rick rack on it :goodvibes
aaPicture406.jpg

For some reason in the pictures she looks like she could be 8 foot tall! My fabric wasn't that long. lol :confused3

It turned out great! It's better a little too big than too small! In the pictures it doesn't look like it's too big though. I love the ric rac around the middle. That added a nice touch!

I would love to see your daughter in the flower girl dress, even if she did chicken out!

Well I did it! My first sewing attempt in 20 yrs. Please be honest!!!

And we had to tuck the back since Erin is a size 3 on top and 6 in length:

I still need to hand sew the one tuck flat but what do you think?

ETA: I got the 6000th post! LOL!

It honestly turned out great! I love that style of dress. I have some Lilo fabric that I want to make something like that with.

Hi Girls, boy it feels like forever since I've posted. A quick update on me...LOL, my brother is moving in with me, and I've had to clear out a room and paint it a more boyish color. So that meant, moving bunk beds, dressers, a closet full of clothes and tons of toys. So needless to say, I'm exhausted!!
So I'm sorry if I haven't answered all of my PM's lately.
Anywho, I got 2 new hairbows in the mail today and I'm thrilled.

They came out really cute and of course will be put away for our vacation.
I will be listing some things today, so I have to get crackin'...

These were my latest, get em listed, jobs. LOL

Have fun sewing today everyone!! I have a test to study for as well as two more outfits to sew and then I'm finally caught up. Yea!!

Surgery, brother moving in, nursing, sewing, I'm suprised you EVER find time to post here Lisa! The outfits all look adorable, and your daughters are just so pretty!

Those bows are adorable! Care to share who made them?

Does anyone have any tricks for sewing tule?

I am making a Tinker Bell costume for my DD's Kit. (18 inch American Girl doll.) I am having a little trouble with it. Any help would be great!

Why not just forget the tucks and adjust the elastic? It will gather the back beautifully and look like it's a great fit on her rather than adjusted to fit her. It's a cute dress. Great job!

I thought about doing that, but by the time we tried it on Erin, I had already sewn the elastic in. I figure this way it will at least fit next year. I did a 1 1/4" hem so it can be let out.

I haven't checked in for a couple of days and looks like everyone has been so busy! All the new outfits are adorable.

The jojo outfit - Were you thinking the button were off? Because I thought all looked good and had to go back and look a couple of times and then they might be off the slightest, nothing I would notice, especially when on a child!

Castlecreations - I was starting to wonder if your younger one liked to model? I always see pictures of Ireland! They are both so beautiful. Does Ireland sit nicely and let you do her hair! As a kid I would have never sat nice!

Well, I need some inspiration, working on a pair of overalls, almost finished and not happy with some polkadots, so now I just don't want to sew!

That pillowcase dress is just adorable!

I second this. I am much more a visual learner than reading the instructions. It seems I have to read a pattern a dozen times before I understand what I am supposed to do. Pictorial tutorials are greatly appreciated for us rookies!

So cute! I have to make something for back to school and our Disney trip on Labor Day before I can even think about Halloween, although the fabrics are so cute and are calling to me.

Here is my latest project. I made pajamas for my sister. I was so happy that I found a matching tank at Banana Republic on sale. I am trying to decide whether or not to embellish it. I want the pajama set to look personalized and made just for her, but I want it to be comfortable for sleeping. What do the experts think?

I would love to start making my own pjs--I just love the cotton bottoms. Gret job.

That's me to the left of her. . .and the BABY sister on the far right!!! She is growing to fast!!!

Pretty dresses. I love that the neckline matches the bride's!

Great twirl skirt! I am glad you found it easy--I had a hard time! I think the Titans dress would certainly sell on ebay! Great job!

DSC00015-1.jpg

Nice work on the applique!

I think the Pooh top is very mature looking. Not a jumper style but more like a shirt. I am sure she loves it!

I love the mermaid fabric at the bottom. Looks polished!

For any of you looking for jeans for your boutique outfits and applique projects, I wanted to let you know that our Old Navy's clearance has a lot of jeans. The kids's sizes seem to be mostly $3.97 per pair. Couldn't believe I got DS four pair of Jeans for $15.88!!!!!

Oh no, back to the mall!

Great stuff! I am going to keep my eye on the Mickey dress!

FINALLY after talking about it, I have an idea of what we are going to do to spruce up our Cruella shirt. First off, I completely removed the bottom from the bodice because we didn't like the way it was put together.

In the process I was looking at our dalmation fabric and coming up with ideas.

I put a buch of the ideas on my Photo program, edited around and showed DD. Her & I both liked the same one! GASP!!! That never happens. Then we tweaked it a little more & we were racking our brains to come up with a saying for Cruella -- all of a sudden DD comes up with "Dalmations -- Cruella Likey" I about fell off my chair laughing!!! I absolutely *love* it. This only makes sense if you watch Hannah Montana and we watch that constantly. It was a saying from one episode that we have sort of picked up in the house but it just fit my DD's personality *so* perfectly. It may not make sense to anyone else but we get it.

Now the fun part is I have to actually put the creation together!!!! I have everything I need (except letters to make the saying -- we are just going to use iron-ons for that). I'm not going to show you the created on the computer version because my editing skills are really, really bad -- it looks awful but it was enough for DD & I to get the idea on what we wanted.

I love the mermaid fabric at the bottom. Looks polished! I wouldn't worry about it being too big on your friend's DD--I think she'll get use out of it in the fall/winter if she put a long sleeved shirt underneath. That is my plan with my dd's jumpers since we'll be traveling in November and the weather can be in the 80s or 50s!!

Where oh where did you get that fabric? I absolutely love it, I'm trying to decide on what to make the girls for MVMCP and we're going to BBB first, so that would be nice to make something with!

Elisa, do you mind if I copy this idea? I bought that pink Mickey and the black/pink dots for dd8, but we didn't know what to do with it. But she fell in love with this outfit! Do you think a 3/4 sleeve shirred shirt or peasant top would look ok, solid black with the same applique? We're going in December and I think a tank might be pushing it!

Good luck on your test!

Ireland used to like to model, now she whines, cries, and makes the photos terrible. She used to do pageants and would sit for hours getting her hair and make up done. She likes that part but hates taking photos. It's either too hot, the sun is in her eyes, the bugs are biting her...:confused3 I don't know why she's so whiny...She can't possibly take after me...:rolleyes1 So now that my littlest is getting older, I put the clothes on her if they fit.

I bought the fabric at JoAnn's keep checking they put new fabric out all the time. It is adorable and it is a nice weight, heavier than the other cotton prints. It has a little different texture to it than the other prints do. I love working with it. I hope you find some. I bought mine here in Georgia so maybe they have some in Tennessee. It would be great to wear to BBB.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the pattern for this top? I have the stripwork pattern but I'd like to start with just a single fabric first.

BTW--I grabbed this off our photobucket link--it's adorable! Bravo to the seamstress!

Also, I found the super cute colored Mickey buttons (in the lime green, pink, yellow, etc.) at Wal-Mart this morning. I know someone had listed that they got theirs at Jo-Ann's, but wanted to let everyone know that Wal-Mart's scrapbooking department had them today as well!

Happy Shopping!

Did you happen to notice if their girls' jeans were on sale this time? I was in just last week and all of the boys jeans were on a great sale, but nothing for girls. :confused3 I've been holding out for the girls' jeans to go on sale ( I have a couple of outfits in mind) but I don't want to miss it!

I'd like to know too, I checked last Sunday and they weren't. I don't want to make a trip without knowing!

I have been watching this thread since May, and have decided to finally post. You all do WONDERFUL work! I was inspired enough to make the Mickey head shirts for my kids before our first trip in May. DH and I are going next year by ourselves :goodvibes , and I was thinking of making the pink guitar RNR shirt for myself. What do you all think? Is that too juvenile? lol ..... To the OP of that shirt, did you make the applique yourself or buy it? TIA!

I don't remember seeing that top before. But, if you have the stripwork pattern, I would think that you could just make the top, and then put a bottom on it that wasn't stripped. Make the skirt about 1.5 -2 times as long as the bottom of the top, more if you want it fuller. Then, just gather it and put it on.

Welcome! I'm glad you posted! I love that RNR shirt too! I would definetely think it was appropriate for an adult! I am pretty sure the creator of that one said she made the applique.
