I took a few pictures while I was making the ruffle so you could see how it works. I'm sorry I can't remember who was asking but I thought some photos might help

IMG_4875.jpg

This picture shows the two rows of stitching and I pinned it to the skirt right sides together. Then I stitch it on.

IMG_4876.jpg

THis shows how I fold the ruffle down and then stitch again over the top.

This is what the back looks like when it is finished. You could trim it with pinking shears too.

This is very helpful! If any experienced sewers could post a picture or two of maybe a "tricky" step in a pattern--it would be invaluable to us rookies! Thanks again!

OK. . .DD was NOT going to wear this outfit and then my sister told her that she really really wanted to see it!! So DD told her that she would wear it to her wedding (my sister's that is)

and then with my sister!!

Great picture--your daughter looks great in her new outfit and your sister looks beautiful!

I did not say I was going to post it but here is the one I made. I am very happy with the way it turned out.

My son went to the Wonderland Tea Party--poor guy--there were only two other boys in the group but he had a great time! I made him a shirt that said, "Who said tea parties are just for girls!" with a picture of the mad hatter. Your daughter holding the flowers reminded me of the end--wasn't it sweet?? Her dress turned out great!

I am going to post the skirt I made for Lilly a little later--Photobucket.com has locked me out since I tried my name/password too many times!

Great work everyone!

Here is a pic of the cinderella dresses I made my girls.

I am having a problem with the ties on the one dress not staying tight and the top falling to show to much chest. Any advice?

cinderelladresses.jpg

The dresses turned out great! If you are only have a problem with one bow coming undone, could you put a few stitches in that bow and still get the dress on your DD by opening just the other side? Just another idea.

My DD just saw the Alice dress and started yelling I WANT THAT!!! You did a great job. Now I need to go find a pattern I guess :) Do you remember the pattern number you used and was it fairly easy?

Ok, here is my first attempt at a twirl skirt of any kind. This took me close to 10 hours to make--spanning over a few days. I am a visual learner and hate reading through directions. A special thanks to LadyRob who helped me through some scary moments! It's not Disney but Halloween is just around the corner and our Disney trip is still over a year away :sad2:

It's adorable! :) I kinda-sorta want to make my DD something for halloween, too...but can't decide when she would get a chance to wear it. And my Disney wish list (for our December trip is ever growing.) And for right now, I'm dead in the water because my machine isn't working...again. Argh!

Thanks for sharing.

Whew! Blakely, you had me worried for a minute but I see you really had things under control after all. :thumbsup2 It turned out great and I hope you are proud of your work. I'm so glad I could help.

CUTE!! Looks like she LOVES it!!

Say, does anyone know how (or where free instructions are) to make woven/braided headbands?
like this:

Cute dresses! I'm not sure if this will work for you, but maybe it's an idea (someone from this thread recommended it to me.) Maybe you could try square-knots instead of bows. I did it on my pillowcase dress (see below) and it seems to work well and still looks cute.:
nemoDress_400.jpg

If, like me, you don't know how to tie a square-knot, here are the instructions I was given.
-- Put the left tie over the right tie, then tuck under
-- Then put the right tie over the left tie, tuck under and pull tight.

Good luck.

That pillowcase dress is just adorable!

I second this. I am much more a visual learner than reading the instructions. It seems I have to read a pattern a dozen times before I understand what I am supposed to do. Pictorial tutorials are greatly appreciated for us rookies!

So cute! I have to make something for back to school and our Disney trip on Labor Day before I can even think about Halloween, although the fabrics are so cute and are calling to me.

Here is my latest project. I made pajamas for my sister. I was so happy that I found a matching tank at Banana Republic on sale. I am trying to decide whether or not to embellish it. I want the pajama set to look personalized and made just for her, but I want it to be comfortable for sleeping. What do the experts think?

When Kirsta did the tea party a few years ago, about 1/3 of the kids were boys.

She looks so cute in that!! What a beauty she is! And, bonus wedding pictures!!!! I love it! I just love weddings! Weren't you in it? Let's see a picture of you in your fancy dress!

OK. . .you ASKED for it!!!! Let's just say that I CAN'T wear those cute tank tops that someone made earlier!!! The girls just don't work that way. And that is EXACTLY what I told my sister when I went to try on the dress she had picked out.

That's me to the left of her. . .and the BABY sister on the far right!!! She is growing to fast!!!

Oh, I love that color for the dresses: you all look so beautiful. The dresses really look pretty with the bouquets. And of course your sister looks gorgeous!

I can't tell but if it is satin covered cording or ribbon then that might be why they are giving you trouble. Grosgrain ribbon should work well. They are super cute!

I haven't been on the board for the last few days because I have been busily sewing!! I had been looking for a pattern to make matching father/son boutique outfits. When my sister posted the pattern for the men's jumpsuit, I knew I had found the perfect matching outfits! I disneyed them up , added some yellow crocs, and ta-da!!! As you can see, DH and DS LOVE their new outfits!!

OMG, OMG... OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is hysterical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To top it off, my DS5 has been looking over my thread over the past few weeks that I have been in this thread... he has been watching me make things for my DD7 and picked out a Surfer Mickey he'd like me to applique for him. Well, now that he's seen the jumpsuit, she said, "ya, ya... THAT'S what I want!!!" But he is serious!!! LOL

You are too funny! I truly appreciate the yellow Crocs as well!

Your girls are adorable! You did a great job making their dresses coordinate, but be different!

You did a fantastic job!!! Too cute!! I haven't done one of these tutu twirls, yet. It's perfect for Halloween! Your little princess looks thrilled with it, too!
