You either c an get a side or desert. Sides they have are like cole slaw, potato salad. Deserts are fast Disney deserts like a cookie, brownie, rice crispy bar. Kids can order any of the sandwiches.
EOS is not a Disney-operated restaurant and their system may be different from other CS restaurants. (Disney does have a system where a child can choose two sides, but one counts as dessert. Disney-operated restaurants will limit sides to things like apples or grapes, french fries available on request)
I would suggest paying OOP for that meal and using your cs credit for another meal. The sandwiches are quite filling that you really don't need the extras. Plus at $5.99 per sandwich, the meal won't cost much.
Earl does have a kids menu so they have to choose a sandwich from the kids options and I think the sides they were offered were chips OR cookie not the full range of sides or desserts that adults were offered. This is not a WDW owned restaurant so there do seem to be some variations in what sides or desserts are allowed. For awhile it was just cupcake or cookie but it loosened up to include just about any side or dessert. My child was also allowed to get a very large container of milk as a drink which was unusual but some cheaper drinks weren't allowed. Just prepare to be flexible and you'll have a good meal
