My son will be 9 on our next trip. When he was 6 on our last trip he loved the mac n cheese and PBJ sandwiches. This time I'm worried he will be looking at our fish and chicken dinners wishing he had it. I know 9 is the last year to be considered a "kid", but can we pay to upgrade him to adult DDP? Also, we are going during free dining and if I can upgrade, will I just pay the difference between what the kid's plan is and the adult? Thanks in advance :thumbsup2!

I upgraded my 9-1/2 year old granddaughter. Of course, you have to upgrade the ticket also. It cost a little over $100 for me to upgrade her for our 8-day stay. I spent that much buying her adult desserts the last time we went.

In general, you accomplish this by registering the child as age 10. This would mean that you'll pay for both adult tickets as well as the dining plan.

Since you are going with Free Dining, you won't have to pay for his plan at all (unless you are upgrading the plan as well, in that case, you'd pay the difference between the adult plans). You will still have to pay the adult charges on his park tickets though.

Yes, just list him as age 10 on the reservation and you'll pay for his tickets as an adult, and the dining plan will be free.

I upgraded my DS. He will be 9 at the time, and the kids meals are just too small for him - especially since his brother is an "adult". I just called Disney and explained what I wanted to do. It was no problem at all. They sent me an email with the changes - they cancelled him out as a 9 year old and added him back in as a 10 year old. :goodvibes
