Kid's DDP credits

I have read somewhere that on the DDP, we have to order the same number and kind of meal as there are guests, meaning if the party is 3 Adults 1 Child, we are only allowed to buy 1 kid's meal per seating. Is that right?

For example, we will be a 3 Adults, 1 Child party. If we show up at a CS location, would they allow us to use 2 Child CS credits, if we order 2 kid's meals?

What if I want a kid's meal from a certain location, and my DD9 from another? Would we be allowed to use child CS credits in both locations?

I'm not sure if it's clear...

Adults are permitted to use their Adult credits to order a Child's meal anytime they choose. You may use an adult credit to order a child's TS or CS meal if you'd like.

The child and adult credits are separated for TS, however CS pools the adult and child credits together.

I should clarify, not for you, but for any lurkers reading this thread - it does not work the other way. You may not use a child's CS or TS credit to order an adults meal at any time.

I'm not sure why you'd want to use your child's credits - that would leave her one credit down.

I know it is against the rules of WDW to use children's credits to buy meals off the regular menu - unless it's a CS that doesn't have a separate children's menu. I don't know what the rules are about using the child's credit to buy a child's meal which the adult then eats. As long as you use the proper credit to buy the proper meal, they're not going to be able to tell at a CS who ends up eating what. They have a rule about buying the adult meal because the children's plan costs so much less than the adult plan, but they're not losing any money on an adult buying a child meal on the dining plan.

About the number of meals you can order - at both TS and CS they are supposed to limit you to the number of people on your reservation, so you'd only be able to order one child's meal for a child's credit per transaction. I'd bet you could spend an adult credit and get an extra child menu meal if you wanted to, but not the other way around.

I think it was Ronda(?) or maybe even Bicker, who posted quite a while ago that Disney never has a problem giving Less for More and ordering a child's CS with your adult credit is ok. (though this is not what the OP originally asked....)

It'd be wasting your credit value wise to order a $4.49 child's meal with your adult credit - but I don't think Disney would have a problem with it. So long as you didn't double up later trying to order an extra adult meal - I think they'd be fine.

I'd agree with that. The OP actually wants to use one of her child's credits to buy herself a child's menu meal. I'm having difficulty with whether that would be against the rule, because Disney still isn't losing anything on it.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I completely understand why it is not allowed to use a child credit to pay for an adult meal, and it truly was not the purpose of my question.

The fact is, I am quite sure my DD9 will not always want the kid's selection... and will gladly use an adult credit to get her what she wants! I'm also sure we'll share most of the meals between all of us... but what if DD and I both want a PB & J sandwich at the same time?? (We are working very hard on getting pregnant, so I will experience those kind of cravings!!! :lmao: )

If need be, we'll pay OOP for some stuff, and use any extra CS meal credits on breakfast in the food court on the last days. I realize it's not the best bang for your buck, but the main reason we are on the DDP is for the convenience of not having to whip out money every time we want something to eat!
