How big are the portions in the kid's counter service meals?
Like...
How many chicken nuggets?
or how big is the kid size pizza?

If anyone has a link to a picture on the food thread, I would totally appreciate it. I could only find one of most table service restaurants, and the turkey sandwich at Riverbelle Terrace.

Oh, and I ask because I usually don't eat much for lunch and would love it if I could just pay less and get the kid's meal! (Thats okay, right? :rolleyes1)

The kid's pizza is a round one, 4 small wedges, same as the personal sized pizza at Round Table. Well, not the one at Daisy's Diner in TT, that was tiny!

Don't know about nuggets.

Bean/cheese burrito kid's meal at the two Mexican restaurants is a small, decent-sized burrito with a reasonably small amount of rice, and a cup of fruit in water. With a small sized water bottle or a very small soda.

Penne pasta with marinara is probably under half of the size of a plate of penne at Plaza Inn, but it has half a breadstick (plate has one breadstick), carrots, and apple wedges, along with the drink. I think that's the most filling kid's meal! Hubby and I shared a plate of penne and a salad, and had to leave some penne behind...we could have each gotten a kid's meal of it and the salad, would have gotten the same amount of breadstick each, had a less "gotta eat it all" portion of pasta, and had the carrots and apple and drinks on top of it! For less money.

Love the counter service kid's meals! And if you're still hungry after, well then, go get a dessert or a snack! :)

Like at 99.9% of restaurants, anybody can order off the kid's menu.

Can't help you out on pictures, but I do know that a kid's hot dog is the same exact thing as an adult hot dog, is about the same price and comes with a side of apples and a juice box.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!! :goodvibes

Still wondering about those nuggets...adult price is 7.99 and kid price is 5.99 with a drink...hmmmm

Oh, I used to know this, it's been so long since I worked at Golden Horseshoe/Stage Door Cafe, lol.

I think it's 4 or 5 Nuggets. One or the other, lol. Just ask the Cashier Host or Hostess when ordering and they'll be able to tell you.

The Kids Pizza at Redd Rockett's Pizza Port at Disneyland Park and Pizza Oom Mow Mow in Disney's California Adventure Park is a small pizza, about 3 inches/7.6 centimetres in diametre.

A "secret" (well, not secret, but certainly not advertised) tip. As part of the Healthy Eating initiative at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts ("Disney Parks"), the default option for all Kids Meals at restaurants at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort will always be the "healthy" one (Apples instead of Fries/Chips, Juice instead of Soda, etc.).

However, Guests are more than welcome to requests substitutions for the less "healthy" alternative simply by asking the Cast Member. This makes our Kids Meals much more attractive for adults. Heck, I live off Kids Meals whenever I go on holiday to WDW (though that's partially because, on Disney wages, that's all I can afford after paying for everything else :lmao:).

The chicken nuggets are a total ripoff! When we first started going to DLR they were strips and were very tasty. Now they are less than half of what you got before - still very tasty, but really, you get more nuggets off the dollar menu at a fast food place than you do for 5.99 at DLR. And if you get the apples instead of fries (my kids don't like fries :scared1:) it seems like a very, very small meal for the rather inflated price.

You can get grapes vs apples at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country.

You get 4 chicken nuggets on the kids meals.

You get 2 slider burgers at the Taste Pilot's Grill in Condor Flats at DCA

You get a Turkey hot dog at Coke Corner vs the beef dog

They have a Power Pack meal for kids that consists of: Yogurt, String Cheese, Whole Grain Fish Crackers, Apple Slices & a juice box.

All the kids meals we got were $5.99

I love eating off the children's menu since the portions are the perfect size for me. Here's some pictures from my last trip:

Penne pasta with breadstick and baby carrots from Plaza Inn.

Turkey sandwich with grapes and apple slices from River Belle Terrace.

Spaghetti and meatballs with applesauce from Pizza Oom Mow Mow.

Turkey wrap with apple slices from Farmer's Market.

I order the kid meals for myself all the time. I get it with an ice tea or pop. It's just the right amount of food. No, it's not gourmet, but I'm not at DL for the food. Just trying to refuel so I can enjoy more of the park.
