Were sailing with our 2 year old is it possible for me to go into the kids club and play with him? I know the club is for 3 and up so he cant be left but I feel like he will be board with nothing to do every day.

During official Open House times (they are listed in the Navigator) you can take him in and play.

Do you have nursery hours scheduled?

We do not as my son is super shy and has never been left with anyone who is not family

There are a lot of activities for 2 year olds that he won't get bored. There are daily disney junior stuff in the morning... there's a character dance party... the pools, the movies... we were fine and did not miss the kids club when our 2.5 year old cruised with us. I had nursery booked but got nervous leaving her without family and cancelled it while on the ship. We were grateful to have the pack n play in the room for nap times however... loved having the verandah to read while little one refreshed herself for dinner via an afternoon nap.

Well, if there is ANY time to try it out, it might as well be with Disney cast members.

And I say that as a person whose kid was left at nursery type places exactly twice (at gyms while I tried to work out) and that was IT. We didn't cruise until he was 8, I think, so nursery wasn't relevant, but if there's a place I would have tried it out it would have been there.

Might make some reservations for later in the cruise, and you can try out the Open Houses, see how he does, and then cancel them if you really don't think it's going to work. (different CMs and space than the nursery, but could still base decisions on it)

I mean, if you're worried about him being bored, might as well make some arrangements as a way to keep him interested!

The staff in the nursery is wonderful. They will adjust for a child's needs. You might go in there on the first day at open house and let your child play a bit with you. Then he might be able to go to the nursery without you. The staff will take care of him. In the nursery, they have activities for ages up to 3 - so it is not just babysitting. The characters visit the nursery also. I had a very shy dependent son who struggle to be away from me. The way I was able to get him to stay in the nursery at church was to look him in the eye and tell him that I would return. I repeated that to him every time I was away from him ( I was a stay at home mom) and he soon learned he could trust that I would return. Maybe you could start that now. Even going to the yard or trash you might tell him I will return. As he sees that you do, maybe by time for the cruise, he would be less fearful.

My DS only was in the nursery during one sailing (he was three the next time we went) I left him there for only an hour. That was the first time I left him with anyone who wasn't family as well which is why it was only an hour i liked the nursery because it is very secure more than some day-cares IMO. But the staff are awesome and attentive. With that being said my DS was more than ready to leave when we came back for him.. He wanted to go play in the water Nemo's reef and go see Mickey.

Following... we have exactly the same scenario and are travelling in January.

On Sea days the nursery also has an open house. We used those as time to acclimate him to the area. When we dropped him off on night 5 of the cruise, he was banging on the door trying to get at the toys before we even had checked in! :rotfl2:

I can not imagine a child being bored on a Disney Cruise. Use the nursery and clubs during open house and check your navigator for events throughout the day. My son loved the morning aerobics with Goofy and all the of the character meet and greets.

Oh that would be fun! What time is that usually? Think my son would like it.
