Hello!

We are cruising on the Wonder in a few weeks and will be going to Palo for the first time!

Our reservation is at 630, so I was planning to do room service for the kids (ages 6 and 8) before taking them to the kids club. I was checking last navigators and it looks like it’s pretty common for there to be “Dinner” blocked off for the kids clubs between 6 and 7. Are they closed or something at that time? Or do they serve dinner at that time? If they do, what are the options typically? Also would that mean there’s nothing else to do in the clubs at that time?

I don’t know why I’m so anxious about this, but lately the 6 year old has been a bit clingy and I’m hoping we don’t get a message from the clubs to come get her because she’s bored/lonely/hungry etc...

Thanks so much!!!

They do serve a meal in the clubs it, but the children are not required to eat it. The counselors will encourage the kids to eat, but will not force them. All of the free play activities continue during whatever time is allotted for dinner.

Make sure that you let the counselors know that you are at Palo. In my experience they make a special effort to keep the kids there and entertained and dissuade them from calling for their parents when they know that you are doing a special activity, especially one you had to go to lengths to reserve and that you paid extra for.

The time I did not do this, and they messaged me, the waiter saw me stand up to go check on my kids and he told me to sit down and had the maître d′ call the club to see if everything was ok ( my son had bumped his knee). When we were done with brunch and went to get my boys, the club apologized for disterbing us at Palo and said it was not noted in the computer.

Here is the information on dinner from the Dis (https://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-childrensactivities.htm) :

Dinner in Kids' Clubs

Kids need to be checked into a club at least 15 minutes prior to a mealtime if the parents want the child to eat in the club. Kids that eat lunch or dinner in the program will have lunch served in the club. Typical foods served include: Sandwiches for lunch (white bread with either a slice of turkey or a slice of cheddar in it), celery and carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, cubed melon, grapes, and cheese sticks. Dinner might include pizza, mini corn dogs, mac n cheese, meat/veggie lasagna, meatballs and Mickey pasta or chicken fingers, all served with fruits or vegetables like lunch. Drinks will be apple juice or water.

This ^^
Our granddaughter is not as keen with the clubs as our grandson and sometimes just wants to come out.
We have told the counselors when we are at Palo and they are great with re-directing her to something else to keep her there for us to enjoy our meal.
We always go right after dinner to see how she's doing, she's ready to go and our grandson is all about us going back when the club is closing.

This. Our 3.5 year old at the time really did not like Oceaneers at the time. She was very shy and had developed some separation anxiety on the trip. The club counselors tried incredibly hard to get her to stay. It didn't work out and they did end up calling us to leave Palo early but they really did make every effort before that. When we arrived there were 3 counselors trying to get her happy.

And remember, if your kids are still hungry when you pick them up, you can always grab a bite up on the pool deck. It became a nightly routine with DS to go up and get a cheeseburger (and sometimes an ice cream cone) on the way back to our stateroom.
