I heard that if you ask, you r children can help prepare a part of the meal.
Is this true? Is it only specific restaurants?
Just need to clarify.
Thanks :)

I've never heard of this. The only thing I'm aware of is the Nestle cookie thing over in the Land Pavillion where they can put on a chef's hat and make chocolate chip cookies.

I think there are some places that will allow them to decorate their own dessert. Like Prime Time Cafe will bring out the ice cream and let the kids put the dry topping on it. 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey let people decorate cupcakes. But that is about the only thing they will let kids do with regards to preparing the meal.

One early evening at POFQ a chef and other food court CM's came out and set up a long kids table with stuff to decorate cookies. The kids got to put on chef coats. The chef came over and asked my DD if she wanted to decorate a cookie and she started to walk over when a bunch of other kids came running over yelling and not acting very nice and my DD got a little shy and came back to our table. The chef came back with a cookie and some decorations for my DD.

I chatted with the chef for a few minutes and they do this every night. I forgot what time he said though. Most of the kids looked liked they were having a really good time.

I have not experienced this myself, but my neighbor did. They were eating at Boma, when a chef asked their DD3 if she wanted to help make desert. She took her over and gave her a chefs hat and jacket. They made chocolate covered strawberries for their table. She had a woderful time and got a lot of cute pictures.
I have heard there is a cooking experience they can do. Not sure if this is the same thing or not though. :confused3

We saw this at Biergarten. I think they asked the kids though. I'm pretty sure it's one of those things that, if you ask, you're less likely to be selected. If you don't, and your child is picked, it's just one of those very special pixie dust moments.

The kids at Biergarten helped decorate a cake. It was very cute.

Sounds like some of these are "magical moments" created by the restaurants. IMO, if you ask for it it sort of makes it less magical and could backfire by making you seem pushy and demanding. Relax, plan the basics and then let the magic happen on its own. You might find it a much less stressful vacation that way.
