I just found out how much dd braces are going to cost  $4200 :faint: .

It was very kind of them to offer me 3 different payment options. I could pay cash :lmao: they would knock 3% off if I did that  I can open some sort of orthodontist visa :rotfl2: that will give me 1% back of my purchases, or :dance3: I can get on the payment plan of only $145 a month :lmao:

:scratchin Now which option to choose :confused3 I got it, wait until dd is old enough to get a job and pay for them herself :teeth:

DD is so excited to get this on she wanted to do it tomorrow. I don't think she will be so thrilled once they are actually on

Ack. I am getting braces put back on, and I am not looking forward to the cost. :sad2: And I am not looking forward to that pain. BLECH.

Edited to add: That savings of $126 is laughable. That isn't even on month of payment. SHEESH

Hopefully, your dental insurance will cover half of that!!! :)

I'm on the $200 a month plan. Welcome to the club! :teeth:

Do you have a flex spend account? We flexed out money for DS's braces and paid them all upfront because we got a 5% discount, the money was taken out of DH's paychecks AND we paid lower income taxes. It is the way to go if you can do that.

I could only wish  There is either a lifetime max of $500 or $1000 towards ortho, we are still trying to find out. But that's it, the rest is mine to pay how I wish :guilty:

Our dental plan does not cover ortho. I am 2 months away from paying off my second set of braces. Oldes ds reminds me all of the time that he was the only one that didn't need braces. I have been paying on someons braces for nearly 5 yrs. now.

I wish my son's braces were only that much - we're in for $5,200!

DD's were this much too! Plus she is missing the teeth beside her front teeth and will need implants.

My insurance pays for half up to $1000 on ortho.

Oh, honey, I feel your pain. We're on the 4th set of braces in our household, second set for this particular child. :guilty: Dental insurance has issued us three separate checks for $1000 against the total of over $16,000...

I'm in the wrong career :rolleyes1

Unfortunately that's the going price. I have two DD's :earsgirl: :earsgirl: with braces. One is paid for and the other is just starting. :scared1: I'm in the $250.00 a month club.

We just started the process with ds. It is $4500 and we have to pay $2300 :sad2: . I had to pay $360 the first visit and paid another $540 2 weeks ago. Than it will be $65 a month for 2 years.

He is getting a pallette expander on June 14. After that comes off 4 teeth will be pulled and than the braces go on.. I am guessing september.

Well, I am 37 years old and got braces for the first time about 2 months ago. My teeth are just a bit crowded on the bottom and I thought I'd only need them on the bottom. WRONG! Apparently I have a small overbite that needs to be corrected so I have them on the top and bottoms, to the tune of $5100. :sad2:

We put $1500 down cash and are paying the rest off by the end of this year, we hope. BTW - That first week with braces was almost as bad as my c-sections. I AM NOT KIDDING. (they say it is much harder on adults than children!)

I have finally paid off, (just this week), my youngest braces, however, he and the oldest are only done with phase 1. So there is a possibility they both will need more ortho in their future. My dental also only covers a life time max of $1000.

:surfweb: at dd12's last dentist visit she said to be sure and see the ortho. by the end of the summer......great! we also don't have any insurance for this and she had 1 set already, they don't know why her teeth are coming in this way?? :rolleyes1 I might be getting a job.

DD just had hers removed like a year and a half ago.

We changed plans and dentist and the new one states she needs them again .Oh and they ( the new plan not so new ) won't cover because of the old ( new plan different name) already shows we had them.

I told her were going downtown and I'm just going to get her the GOLD GRILL teeth coverups. :teeth:

Ugggh I am dreading this, ds will definitely need them. We don't even have a dental plan right now, dh's employer stopped offering it last year :( ds's teeth are coming in very slowly so I'm not sure when he will actually have them put on, I'm not looking forward to it though, at all.

many, many years ago, the standard price of ortho was 2000 dollars, and all insurance paid half up to one thousand. now 25 years later with the average price hovering around 5000 dollars, most insurances pay half up to a thousand dollars.

DD's cost $6,000 and my insurance paid nothing, but as others have mentioned, my flex spending account really helped save the day. She got them off about 6 months ago and she sleeps in the invisalign retainers at night. She will continue with that for many years to ensure the teeth don't move. Her smile and teeth really do look beautiful so after the pain of it, I can now say it was worth it.

DD 13 gets her braces on June 15th. The total cost is $4300, but with our insurance our part is $1900. We could have made payments but they wanted them to be monthly out of our checking account. DH just pulled out the cc and paid it.

The cost covers everything, even the retainer she has to wear when she gets her braces off.

She is also excited about them :confused3
