Kids being separated from parents on plane?

the tvs on the jetblue are they free or do you have to pay for it thanks

Access to the televisions are included in your ticket, however if you need a headset, they'll charge a couple of bucks. They are yours to keep, however!

thank you for answering that for me i thought it was for free from what i saw on youtube but wasn't sure, it seems to me that jetblue still does everything the old way all the other airlines do it differently i think i saw southwest you have to swipe your credit card through to use there tv. that's why i was asking if jetblue was free. Thank you again. :)

I've been flying with my kids for 14 years four times a year and have never been separated. We've flown every legacy carrier, as well as JetBlue, AirTran, and a couple of other discount carriers who are no longer in business.

thank you for your reply i am tossing between delta, jetblue or may southwest only if the prices are real cheap.:)

Don't forget to factor in checked bag fees. Look at each airlines website for what they charge. You can get free checked bags (one for each person in your party) on Delta by getting their American Express card ($95 annual fee, waived the first year). Southwest has no checked bag fees (ETA: for two bags under 50#).

Sam,
The first two bags @50# are free on SWA. Anything additional or over the weight limit pays. There is a list of fees on SWA's web site.

You're correct. I should have specified. Thank you.

And you can always bring regular earbuds or headphones from home. The same ones that work in our Ipods work in the plug for the Jetblue tv's.

Southwest Family boarding is between the A and B groups. Family boarding is no longer first. The family boarding applies to children under 4. 1 parent is allowed to accompany that child. The rest of the family will have to board with their assigned boarding group.

Does it happen that children are seated apart from their parents, yes. I've been on flights where children were in the C boarding group and were older than 4. They were not seated with their parents. The flight attendants asked for volunteers to switch seats. I've seen scenarios where there were volunteers and I've seen ones where there were not. It's a toss up. If they are flying southwest, purchase early bird check in.

If they have A or B boarding groups, there is a very good chance that at least 1 parent will be able to sit with the child.

bolding is mine...
actually policy is 4 and under...not under 4. :)
and it's up to the gate agent as to whether they want to allow more than one parent to board with that child. More often than not I am seeing bigger and bigger groups boarding during family boarding. Now I clearly think if a single parent is travelling with multiple children, that parent should be allowed to take all of them with him/her at time of boarding...esp on a flight that is considered sold out!!! Not so much because of them sitting together but to make sure that they are ON that flight! We have seen people actually have to deplane because there weren't enough seats! :scared1: I would want to know that MY KIDS were on that plane with me!

Now when I was reading up on the situation I saw in a few different places there is no longer "family boarding" unless the child is an infant. Did I misunderstand this?
There is actually two adults. It's two adults and two children. I assume they wouldn't be seated alone, seeing as though there is one adult for each child, just want to be sure!

Yes...There is still family boarding and it is for children 4 and under and 'generally' 1 parent. Now Many Gate Agents deviate from that and allow the entire family to board together...but that is another whole thread. :rolleyes1

I don't know of any SW planes that have TVs.. :confused3

I was actually laughing about this type of policy with my friends the other night at a BBQ. I was wondering if I could pay someone to sit with my little darlings:rotfl2: My kids are tweens and they are a handful especially when they are all together, but probably would be excellent if they were with a stranger (kind of how they are in school) I would imagine the airlines knows most passengers would rather not sit next to somebody else's kids. I love my kids but hours on a plane with them can sometime be torture. :scared1:
