Hi, my 6 yr old son was invited to a b-day party for one of his classmates. The party is being held at a sports complex (kind of like bounce u). I was wondering if parents usually just drop kids off at that type of party or do they normally stay?

I usually always stay with my son at parties but this time I have something to do at that day and I cant get out of it. He was going to have to miss this party but i worked something out with another mother and she agreed to take the boys, but I think she is just dropping them off. I have never held that type of party (or any party that we invited school friends) so I dont know if staying with them or just dropping off is the norm.

Thanks

it seems to vary from region to region. here, it is typical for parents to stay till around 1st grade, then I started to notice fewer parents staying, more just dropping off. (and I do mean fewer, not all...many parents still stayed at my son's 7th this year, but more left, first time for us. guessing next year the % leaving will be higher).

any other moms you know that might be staying? if that makes you more comfortable, you can always ask them to keep an eye out on yours if they need something.

At a party like that for a 6 year old I would just stay. I would be fine dropping a 6 yr old off at a person's home though, unless it was a pool party, then I would stay too.

When we held parties at places like this, most of the parents would stay for 6 yr olds. A few parents would just drop the kids off though. I'm sure your son will be fine if you have something to do and just drop him off.
