Kids are eating more fruit because

I am serving it to them all cut up with a toothpick:thumbsup2
Now I don't have any spoiled fruit anymore!

I do this with certain foods for lunch. I serve everything with toothpicks. I call it "sample" lunch. Like the samples we get from Costco, Target, etc.

My DS begs for bananasicles. No, they aren't frozen just half a banana shoved onto a popsicle stick. :lmao:

I also buy fancy toothpicks at the dollar store(plastic swords) and swizzle sticks with fish and stars on them to make fruit kabobs.

It's a gimmick, but whatever works!

Every weekend when I go to the flea market now, there's a farmer's market section. I buy tons of fruit and usually spend under 10$ too. When I get home, I cut it all up and put it in ziploc baggies. As the week goes on, I eat all, just so I can replenish on saturday.

That is one great thing about being here in California. Back home, I didn't buy much fruit unless it was on sale. Here I can buy half a box of strawberries for 6$, cantelope for 1$, huge watermelons for 5$, mangos 2 for a 1$, tomatoes 2lbs for 1$, banana bunches (usually 6) for 1$, Oranges/tangerines 2lbs for 1$, lettuce for a 1$. There's a ton of other fruits too that I don't normally eat that are extremely cheap. I love it, and there's always something to munch on. On top of that, the fruit is so sweet, and the strawberries are huge. I could easily spend 20-30$ or more on all the fruit I buy if I was back home in Florida. Mostly just cutting out all the shipping charges since most the stuff sold there is grown in California to begin with.

My kids love sampling at Costco. "Sample" lunch. That's brilliant!

OP, yesterday I got out some ranch dip and cut up a whole stalk of celery and they ate it all! I have to start pulling fruit and veggies out like that. Good for you!

I used to make fruit kabobs which were fun to eat, never had fruit waste either way.

Yay! I just bought some celery but I don't have any ranch so I will get that when I go out in the morning, thank you!!

Another way to make it 'fun' is to use empty ice cube trays. I got a great silicone one (they make different shaped ice cubes, ours is shells I think)...I put a little fruit in each cup. When ds was younger he LOVED this!

love this idea with the toothpick. I asked dd if she wanted some fruit. She said sure. I asked if she wanted a banana, she said no.
Well i had already sliced it up arranged it in a cute round flower plate. ANd the center piece had a tootpick. I brought it to her and she said she didnt want any. I picked up the slice with the toothpick and told her to try it, its a fancy dessert-lol! She tried it and did the I'm rich acting and I'm eating fancy. Well what do you know she ate it all without me saying another word-lol! BTW- she's 11 1/2 lol!:rotfl2:

I am not a kid, and I won't eat fruit if it isn't cut up. I just don't, I don't know why. But my and the kids just polished off a bowl of cut up fruit after a day at the beach.

I recently went to the deli and they had samples of ham and turkey with swiss cheese. They used pretzel sticks as toothpicks to hold the lunch meat and cheese rolled up. My guys loved it.
