Kids and airplane windows

Does anyone know how tall a child has to be in order to see out the windows of an airplane? I haven't flown enough to remember where the windows are positioned.

Just wondering if my 40-inch-tall DS4 will be able to get much mileage out of the window seat.

Don't know about the height question but if your ds does sit by the window make sure he isn't looking out the window when you land. I've flown many times but still remember the one occasion when we were landing in Orlando and I was looking out the window (enjoying my first site of all those lovely palm trees). Just as we touched down I could feel my stomach start to churn - that was the closest I ever came to tossing my cookies. :rotfl2: Unfortunately the little girl in the seat behind me didn't look away as quickly as I did. Something about the horizon (not sure) but I wouldn't want your little guy to get ill.

He won't see as much as a taller person would, but he'll still be able to see! DS loves looking out the window. He can't see as much of the ground after we've taken off or when we're landing as an adult could, but he loves looking at what he can see of the ground, the clouds as we're flying, and the baggage etc. when we're waiting to take off. :)

He'll be able to see out just fine, unless it is one of those goofy "window" seats some planes have that don't actually have windows. And try to avoid the wings it is hard to see anything with that big metal object blocking your view!

I have to disagree and my whole family would too about not watching the landing that is one of the best times to watch! that and take off. My family are window lovers we sit in 3 rows so both kids and my DH get a window. I end up sitting in the middle seat next to one of them but if alone I pick the window.
