Hi

I'm gonna start making my daughters books but dont no how to get them to stay together for a long plane ride.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I would like to know this too. Do you take them to Kinko's or another printing place?

I used the folders with the prongs and pockets when we are going to be on a long trip. If you use a small binder say 1/2 inch or so then you can but a pencil pocket with holes that will also go into the binder.

I would punch holes in the paper with a hole puncher then stick it in a binder.
Enjoy!!

Last time, I bought some very inexpensive plastic folders from Walmart, that had the metal center prong thingy's in the middle. Very easy to puch holes and press them in the folder, and the front was clear, while the back's were colored. Each kid had a diferent color, and it was easy to tell them apart.

I've made these for my daughter in the past. What I've done in the past is this:

1) Print out all the activity sheets
2) Add a front and back cover, printed on cardstock
3) Staple along the left edge of the pages, close to the edge.
4) Cut a strip of cardstock paper that is the same length of the book and wide enough to wrap around the edge and cover the staples on both sides.
5) Cover one side of the cardstock strip with glue (glue stick, super tacky glue, etc)
6) Wrap strip of paper glue-side-down over the edge of the book with the staples.

When complete, it looks like a book with a different color edge binding (I always use pink for DD). I usually use binder clips to hold it down tight to the book while the glue dries.

This has worked great for me in the past, and it's free, since it's stuff I always have lying around anyway. The only real reason I cover the staples is so they don't get unbent and hurt someone.

I've used report covers with prongs.

I just had Staples bind some cardstock for me to use as a autograph book-I printed a cover that they laminated. I made it 1/2 sheet size. It was $1 for lamination, $2.49 for binding, $2.00 for cutting the card stock and $0.99 for triming. I brought in my own card stock.
