Found out the other day that I have an 8 mm stone in my kidney. I'm scheduled for lithotripsy next week since my doctor is concerned about its size and that it could cause some significant problems if it tried to pass from the kidney. I've had lithotripsy done when the stone was stuck in the tube, but never while it's been in the kidney. Have any of my fellow sufferers had lithotripsy done when the stone has still been in the kidney? Should I expect the experience to be about the same?
Stupid kidney stones. This is my fourth one. Sigh.

I take 2 potassium citrate pills daily and only drink filtered water. So far, so good. I still freak out if I have an aching back muscle or something, thinking a stone has come back.
