Does anyone know if the KidCot activities are the same as last year? DD enjoyed going to all the countries, but if it is the same, I am going to persuade her otherwise! Thanks!

My kids enjoyed them last September... but Mommy was all wigging out. I dress them in their disney best to color with sharpie markers!

bah

As of two weeks ago they were exactly the same. I have to 2nd the previous poster's annoyance with the Sharpies!!!! What a STUPID idea for little kids to color with permanent markers!!!!!!

Ummm...doesn't Sharpie sponsor Kidcot? So I wouldn't expect them to be puitting out Crayola... ;)

Thanks for the advance notice on the Sharpies.

Would the projects work if I planned ahead and brought my own Crayola washables? Like is it a glossy paper that only takes permanent markers? What colors would you need? (Wouldn't want to have to carry more than I'd need in the backpack.)

I'm pretty sure they had washable Crayolas last year. The only bad thing was that when we got a little rain it ran their masks. I HATED the Sharpie idea (I totally get that they sponsor, but c'mon, permanent markers for kids????) but must admit the masks looked much nicer than with the Crayolas. The masks could be colored with washable markers or even crayons. They're blank so you could take as many or as few colors as you wanted.

I have a question about the KidCot stations. I understand they get the mask for thier first country and the decorate it. On the other countries, do they get to make something else or is it just a charm and stamp for their masks? And has anybody bought the passports?

Let's see if I can answer all questions as we just got back last week.
1. Yes it's the same as previous years.
2. Yes they're Sharpies only.
3. They get a tag to attach to their mask at each country.
4. Once they get all 11 tags and stamps they get a small poster of characters at Epcot, signed by Goofy.

I agree we didn't go through Epcot to colour, it takes such a long time. What we did this time was let them get their tag and stamp at each country, then we left. The kids coloured their masks, tags, etc once we got back to the room with their own WASHABLE markers. The kids were fine with this, and we got to cover more ground.

Thanks for letting me know. My DD5 loved going from country to country to collect the stamps. The people at each country either wrote or told her how to say her name. I too was worried about the Sharpies, we colored our masks when we got home.

What is the general idea with the Kidcot stations at world showcase? Is that the place to get your "passport" stamped, or is that a separate activity altogether? I'm a little confused about this. I know Kidcot stations have crafty activities, I just wasn't sure if it's combined with the whole Passport idea. Do you know if the resorts sell the passport books, or do I need to get one at Epcot?

Ditto to this! We didn't even make it to WS last trip and plan to spend at least a full day there this trip, so I'd like to be as informed as possible :) Thanks!

Depending on the ages of your kids, you may want to opt for the passport instead. They sell the passports at Mousegear (and other shops in Epcot, i'm sure). I think they were around $10. They have stickers for each country and instead of coloring the mask, the CM's stamp the passport. My DD really enjoys just talking to the CM's talk about their countries. She picks a word (last year was "mouse") that she asks the CM's to translate into their language and write in the passport. She has a great interaction with them and it is neater and less time consuming than the mask. Have a great time at epcot.

Great idea! Thanks :)

I plan on bringing crayons with us this year. That way DD5 won't get upset when she doesn't finish her mask at the countries. If it were up to her we would stay in one country all day to color!

We've done this all three years but we never got a poster of characters. Where did you get that. That would be another thing for us to keep from this trip.

We did this last year but I didn't know about the poster either. Where do you get it?

The last country we visited was Mexico, and that is where dd got her poster. The kidcot station is to the side of the entrance to "El Río del Tiempo" ride.

they have them at every country. Wherever you are when you collect your 11th stamp and tag, just tell the CM that you collected all your countries. They will congratulate you and give you the poster. But, you have to point it out to them- they won't ask (unless you are in Canada or Mexico- so many people finish at the "end" countries, that they are used to asking).
