Going to Animal Kingdom Kidani Village for the first time. Have 2 bedroom lock off with savanna view. Do I need to request a floor for better views of the animals?

You can see the animals better for the lower floors. The tree block much of the view when you are above them. Also request The Sunset Savanna.

In my opinion, each level presents a quality view. If you want more of an overview, ask for the top floor. But the first level or rooms is not ground level, its more like the second or third. I think you will be fine with any floor. But someone on here is more than likely a AKL expert and may be able to offer different advice.

For view request, make "Sunset Savanna View" your lead request (80% of all savanna view rooms at Kidani) if you want to see giraffes and zebras (those are not on the smaller Pembe savanna). Many also like "lower floor" (results in 2d or 3d floor, ground/1st floor is parking garage) for more direct view of animals, but many also like higher floor (4 or 5) for more panoramic view of savanna and animals. We usually do not request floor level because we consider any floor fine.

There are also potential location requests you can make to avoid long walks to certain amenities. The building is about 2/3 mile long and thus distance to amenities can be very long from room near the end of either of the two wings. The pool is on the north wing and a request for near the Rafiki elevator, if met, will give you shortest possible walk from the building to a gate to the pool area (down that elevator to ground floor and a walkway to that gate) and you will be within striking distance of lobby and bus stop. If you want quick acces to the bus stop which is on the south wing, you can request "near the Timon elevator," which, on the 2d floor, gives you a very short walk to the door that exits directly to the bus area, and it will also put you fairly close to the lobby. If instead you are fine with very long walks to the pool and lobby, but prefer shortest walk to the Jambo building (for the counter service and buffet restaurants) then request "near the Zazu elevator," the last elevator on the south wing that is closest to the front of the Jambo building. From that elevator, you will have about a quarter mile walk to the Jambo front entrance (in comparison if you get a room that is at the end of the Kidani north wing, the walk to Jambo is about 5/6 mile.

Also, unless there was a particular reason for getting a 2BR lock-off room, I would consider switching, if still possible, to a dedicated 2BR. Both are the same size, are located everywhere throughout the building, and the internal difference is mainly that the dedicated has only one door, has the second queen bed rather than couch pull-out full size in the second bedroom, and does not have the mini-kitchen in the 2d bedroom. However, what I consider a significant difference for viewing is that the dedicated 2BR has one long balcony running across both bedrooms and the living room, thus leaving the entire balcony area open for viewing, while the lock-off has a barrier wood-type wall between the 1BR and studio on the balcony.
