I have stayed at Jambo house before and absolutely loved it! Now I am trying out Kidani and have a few questions :)

I am staying in a standard view room and was was wondering if there are certain floors/buildings that I should try to request?

Also, is the food court at Kidani similar to Jambo house?

Any help would be great!!

I don't know about what to request but we requested close to lobby for our sv rm and it was great

There is no cs option at kidani. But it wasn't too far to go to mambo for cs

Kidani has only a table service restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner and not breakfast (however, it is one of the best restaurants in WDW). Only quick service food available is what you can get at the pool bar during the day. Walk, front door to front door, Kidani to Jambo, which has Mara a quick service restaurant, is about 1/2 mile.

Standard views at Kidani face road and front lot areas and ones on north wing face pool so you might want to request high floor, pool view.

Thanks for the info. I am so bummed that Kidani doesn't have quick service  It is just so nice to be able to run to the food court for breakfast before the day starts. Oh well

You can purchase limited breakfast items - cereal, bread, etc - at the small store in the lobby to take back to your villa to eat.

If the CS is important to you, maybe you might want to request to be as close to Jambo as possible?

We just got back from a week at Kidani, and although the weather was ridiculously bad on two of the days, we had a GREAT time! Even without the foodcourt/quickservice onsite. We honestly just hopped on any bus going to a park and rode the 2 minutes to Jambo House when the weather was particularly atrocious. Then picked up whatever and got back on the bus to the park. Not as easy as the walk because of loading and unloading a stroller, but when the weather was agreeable we walked with no problem.

My non-Disney-addicted DH actually liked the quiet of Kidani as well as the size of the rooms - we were in a 1bedroom standard view on the second floor (same floor as lobby) - about midway down the curve away from Jambo - if that makes sense?! I believe it was #7657? Standard view, bit of a walk from the lobby, but still some animals outside our balcony!!:thumbsup2

We knew about the lack of counter service beforehand and didn't mind, but it's certainly a sticking point for many folks!

I am thinking that I may just wait list for Jambo House. I will be almost 6 months pregnant and not sure I will be up for the walk back and forth (I can't live without my wdw waffles, I look forward to them every year). But if the wait list doesn't come through I am sure I will love Kidani. Thanks again for everyones great input!!

is there an internal bus? from what I understand, if going from kidani to jambo.. take any theme park bus.

but.. going from jambo to kidani, you need to wait for a DTD bus? those are few and far between!

we are staying on points at jambo, and are thinking of taking the bus to the kidani pool and back.

I thought I read that there is a shuttle now that can also take you up and back between Jambo and Kidani. The walk is about 10 minutes, not bad.

In January it was still DTD bus to get from Jambo to Kidani and theme park bus from Kidani to Jambo.

The wait wasn't too bad either way.

So glad I have Disboards to bounce all these thoughts off of! Soooo helpful. I am now wait listed for Jambo but feel very prepared and excited if I do get Kidani :)

For a standard view, I would request the pool area (still a std view) on the 4th floor. This will keep you from having to look at the parking lot. ;)

We were at Jambo house in November and walked over to Kidani for the pool and lunch at Saana. (sp?) We tried to get a shuttle (they called for one) we waited 5 min and decided to walk...it wasn't too bad. Took about 10 minutes. We shuttled back via golf cart (that was nicer:thumbsup2)
I don't think I would want to walk over for CS at Mara too much if I was at Kidani. I would just stock breakfast foods in my villa.

Thank you for the information on Kidani everyone! We are headed there for the first time in September and we haven't even visited Kidani. We are going to call with our room request on Monday!

I guess it's kinda like at coronado. they say there are golf carts to flag down, but everyone I saw was zipping past me, or headed in the opposite direction.
a littl eoff topic, but speaking on internal transportation,:
if you stay at Royal Pacific resort. they have "rickshaws" with guys riding bikes pulling them, to take you from the resort to City walk. it is free, but these poor guys work for tips, so tips are greatly appreciated!

You will love Kidani. We stayed 3rd floor and as close to the lobby as we could get. I think we were near the Timon elevator. Whichever one it was, we were really close to the pool... it was the closest elevator to the pool.

The pool area was fantastic.

I too wish the had a CS. However, being able to park under the building was very nice. It was never too far from your room to the car and your car was shaded the entire time. Loved that!:cool1:
