kidani village pool and parking questions

We are thinking of adding on to either AKV or BLT and I had a couple questions. Kidani village looks rather large. The map shows the pool near one end of the property. Is the pool area in walking distance to all the rooms? Or will I need to get in my car and drive over with small kids. (That is one thing we hated about SSR.) Also, is the parking for your rooms outside each section? So you can park close to your room? Or one central parking lot that you enter through a lobby.

We stayed at BLT last week and loved it, but the high points per room is a huge downfall for us. I dont want to buy in and depend on SV each trip since I think a lot of people also are buying there with no intentions of every going for MK view. I am nervous of availability of the SV rooms.

Pool is actually out the main lobby entrance, so yes convient and walkable to all rooms. BTW the pool is VERY nice!!!!!

The parking is great at Kidani. It is located at ground level, under the 2nd floor so most of it is covered (there are some spaces out in the open). There are 2 elevators on each side that go from ground level up. So you can park close to the elevator near your room and go straight up. You don't have to go through the lobby.

If you are at the far end of the building close to Jambo, it is a pretty good hike to the lobby & pool. Similiar to Boardwalk.

We have small kids and just bring the strollers with us to the pools, its a great place to keep our shoes, towels, etc. When you do that, walking is no problem. We figure with as much junk as we eat while on vacation a little extra walking is a good thing:)

I must add, we never travel during the hot months.....

We stayed there in June. Parking is very convenient. As PP's mentioned, it is underground (basically the lowest level of the resort), so you just follow the garage until you are under the section your room is in and head right up. Also, the pool is nice and close. We were on the pool side and it was about 1 minute to get down the elevator and into the back entrance of the pool. If you are on the other side of the resort, you'd need to walk to the lobby (2-3 mins at most I'd think) and then out the main entrance, across the parking lot to the pool. I don't think even the farthest room would be over 5 mins.

How long does it take to walk from a room at Kidani (for example, the farthest away) to Mara counter svc at Jambo?

Nobody knows since that section of the resort is still being completed. There are threads somewhere that give the distance from Porte Cochere at Kidani to Porte Cochere at Jambo House, but I don't remember what it is. I would guess that it won't be more than about 10-15 minutes though (I walk pretty fast; longer with small kids probably). Never made the walk myself, but saw some TRs where people near the lobby or on the end of the resort closest to Jambo made the trip pretty quickly.

Keep in mind that the buses to the parks run from Kidani to Jambo, so if the weather is an issue (heat, rain), or the distance, you can catch the first park bus that comes along to Jambo. The buses to the water parks and DTD stop at Jambo and then Kidani, so you can use those for the return trip after you eat.

Since parking is under kidani village will it be a problem parking a Sequoia with a hard top carrier? Will I have to parking in a seperate lot?

The only potential problem may be the entrance from the main road. I don't remember what the clearance is at the entrance/exit area. Once you get under the building it alternates between taller areas (guessing around 15' ceilings) in some areas and shorter areas (guessing around 9') as you move through the complex.

Sounds like it will be close. Thanks for the insight. Hopefully the front desk will be able to tell me something at check in.

No problem parking under there with that. We saw several big SUV's parked under there. The clearance is higher than most parking garages. (I look at such things...we have a Sequoia. ) And there's overflow parking right outside the covered area.

We are here now and my husband says the clearance in the garage is 7'6". We drove a van so he was kind of concerned.

We are getting ready to make reservations for next fall. I was thinking about requesting a location near the pool, but this thread made me wonder if lots of people drive their car to park near the pool, will we have trouble finding parking spaces?

We were in a section next to the pool. There were mostly empty "overflow" spaces outside the garage. I'm not sure how it is during more crowded times, like July.

There was only one time that we had to park outside the garage. There was a large SUV and trailer that were both parked in the garage. When the SUV left, they saved their spot with the trailer. I'm sure we weren't the only ones a little upset about that when the garage was full.

Thanks for all the help. It looks like from the picture there is plenty of room under kidani.

I don't think it would be worth it to drive from one section to another to be close to the pool. Its not like the Carriage House at SSR. Its a hike, but not driving distance. We were in Timon section. We parked usually maybe 3 or 4 spots from the elevator. Then straight up to our room. We didn't drive to the pool.

We were at Kidani a last week. It is very nice. Parking is under thees building. They will tell you which section to park in. We were Timon 4. We had a non savanah view studio for 5 nites. I had asked to be near the pool and community hall and we were 1/2 way to Jambo and Pool. From Our room it took all of 10 minutes. The pool is very nice daily activites and pool activites happenin and movies at night. To get to the room from the pool was a 5 minute walk. People get all excited that the Mara is far away it is not. It does seem busier at times you have to give your order and they give you a pager when it is ready.

The only thing about the walk from Mara to Kidani village is although it may not be such a long walk or a stamina issue, if you wanted to bring it back, your food would most likely be cold.
