Can anyone tell me where the laundry is at Kidani Village? I know when we get there we can look it up, but I would prefer to be prepared.

From DVCNews.com:
At Kidani Village the laundry facilities are on the 2nd floor (lobby level) in the south wing, not far from the lobby, just past the arcade and community hall. It has two regular washers and one large high efficiency front loader and six dryers. Unlike Jambo House, guests do not need to use a key card to access the laundry room.

I think the post above says 3 washers (2 regular and 1 large). How many studios does Kidani have? If I recall correctly Poly only has 3 or 4 washers and it is all studios there.

Whoa....TWO washers and SIX dryers for ALL of Kidani?! That does not sound like enough for the size of the resort. I hope there is not a huge wait for machines when we go in October.
Remember that you can use the LaundryView app to check availability of washers and dryers in real time. I just checked the app and Kidani has one washer and all six dryers available.

There are 168 Studios, but also keep in mind that those in two and three bedroom Villas may also want to use the laundry facilities as overflow for their laundry to reduce the amount of time it takes to do laundry, especilly since the in room machines are so slow, and that adds a potential for another 324 rooms competing for a single laundry room. That adds up fast, not sure why they think such a small laundry room is sufficient.

I do love that feature in their laundry rooms when doing laundry.

Do you have the link to the app? I can't find it in the play store.

Staying in a one bedroom we would never haul our laundry to the resort laundry room. Even if we only do one load per day, doing it in your room is our way to go.

It is a great feature that is usable at all of the DVC resorts. The only resort I have noticed that the laundry is frequently crowded is the Poly. With 360 studios and 4 washers and 8 washers it is often difficult to get a washer in the afternoon and evenings. Laundry view is also having problems right now as it says a resort has a certain number of washers but the drawing shows one is missing.

Some families do as they can use all four washing machines at once or whatever is available, and the washers are larger ones than in all the 1 or 2 BRs or Grand villas with the exception of OKW. Most of the villa guests do not, thank goodness because it would be a challenge to use the washers and dryers for those of us that don't have one in their room.

We usually only pack 3-4 pairs of shorts and 5-6 shirts when we stay in a studio and even less when we stay in a 1-2 BR. If we have a washer/dryer in our room, I simply throw our clothes in the washer at the end of the day, the kids take their showers and then the clothes goes in the dryer before bed. In the morning, we have clean clothes that gets put away (replacing whatever we pull out to wear that day), the towels go in the washer while we get ready and then into the dryer before we leave. It works out great.

It's trickier in the studios because I am not trekking to the laundry room every day. It all depends on how far away our room is located. If it's close, I may go every other day and do just the clothes and not worry about the towels. I like to have fresh, clean towels, but I am not going to tie up an extra washer and dryer to do them, especially when there are so few machines available. The "hassle" of doing laundry is totally worth it to me because it means that I can pack just a few bags and we can usually go home with only a few items that need to be washed.

I have been doing laundry at Kidani for years, and have rarely seen anyone else there. I divide up my loads for the dryers and use all six, so it speeds up the drying time. There is a tv in there, so you can watch tv, or walk down the hall during loads to view the animals. The machines are free, so that is a nice perk.

Yep. Only time I did that was when our dryer didn’t work for a one night stay. And we got a refund of the points between 1 bed and studio bc the in-room laundry was the only reason I booked a 1 bed.

But you have to realize that nowhere near everyone wants to do laundry on vacation!

I always do, but I’ve almost never encountered anyone or any machines being used in the public laundry rooms when staying at a studio. Even that morning at BWV finishing up our laundry that didn’t dry there was no one else in there.

I’ve never noticed the in-room machines being slow.

. . . I’ve never noticed the in-room machines being slow.

The washer time is pretty accurate, but the dry time is too long. However, we usually find the clothes are dry within 30 minutes for a weeks worth of laundry for two.

I don't know how many people do laundry on vacation. Most people I know don't want to do any kinds of chores on vacation.

But for us, a family of 5, I do one load of laundry every day or every other day in the room depending on what we have worn. There's really no need to use the laundry rooms unless you accumulate a week or more worth of dirty laundry.
