Kidani Village Grand Opening

I will be at WDW on May 1 which is the opening day for Kidani Village.Will there be a Dedication Ceremony,Open House,etc. that day?Thanks.(Sorry,I just noticed this is in the wrong Forum! )

I have not heard of any plans and there wasn't a dedication ceremony when Jambo opened for DVC.

Jambo was a refurbishment for conversion of a small number of rooms to DVC.

Kidani is a MAJOR resort in a MAJOR vacation area in central Florida.

I will be absolutely shocked if DVD doesn't have anyone and everyone they can muster from the press opening morning to get all the free press they can get. I cannot imagine a scenario where they won't make at minimum, at least a minor event at this opening and likely, it will be a major event given the state of the economy.

An ideal situation for Disney to say, look what we're doing for the economy and people of central Florida. Look at all the new folks we're employing here. No way they'll miss that.

I asked a DVC contact last week and she said that they did not have anything planned for the Kidani opening. I was a little surprised at that. But I'm sure there is a certain amount of overhead expense involved in any event and Disney probably figures it doesn't have much to gain. Even without a ceremony, the Orlando Sentinel will probably mention the opening. And websites like this will give them a lot of free publicity.

Honestly that's about the extent of the coverage they would get anyway. A timeshare opening--even at Walt Disney World--certainly isn't a noteworthy event for national news programs or newspapers.

I thought that they'd have a celebration for the Jambo House opening. I made sure that I booked my vacation to arrive on September 1, 2007, the date of Jambo House opening (at that time). I wanted to be a part of any celebration. Being a founding member should give me something besides a necklace and name on a tapestry after all, right?

Then Jambo House opened early.

Because my unit was not one of the units that opened early, I could not change my reservation to an earlier date to coincide with the new opening date. But that didn't matter anyway, because there was no celebration.

So, my message to those who have points corresponding to units in Kidani is do not assume that you will be staying during opening day of Kidani, because DVD could declare other units available that have an opening date before yours and your opening-day plans will be for naught.

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a map of AKL including jKidani village. I want to request a certain area and view but I can not seem to find a map?
