Kidani Village 1 Bedroom Standard - Best Location?

We are long time WDW guests, but brand new to DVC. We are planning a week long stay this Christmas at AKL and looking at the 1 BDR Suite at Kidani over the ones in Jambo House. Plus, at Christmas it seems like Jambo is already booked and those rooms only have one bathroom. Our main question now is: where should we request at Kidani if we are booking a standard view? Being on the side with the pool is appealing for its location to lobby and pool. The other side of the resort is closer to parking and transportation, but we really don't want to hear buses driving by if we are out on our deck. We will plan to have groceries and cook many of our meals so access to restuarants is not a big issue. We also won't be visiting parks much. Thoughts or suggestions?

We've had good luck requesting pool view, upper floor.

We like to be near the Rafiki or Pumba elevators. Rafiki puts you near the pool. You get a nice sound of water when on the balcony. Pumba might yield a partial Savannah view, but your walk to the lobby and buses will be longer. I don't find the walk bad at all, however. I have timed it at two minutes from the last room.

Online it only gives Savannah or Standard views as options. I figured pool view would be in the Standard option.

I always write my requests and send a letter to member services. Don't put requests during online check in.

We called in today to get our reservation and surprisingly Kidani Village for 8 nights was not possible at Christmas. The CM said that it is booked solid December 26th and 27th. We are there Dec 22-30. To her surprise she said that a 1 bedroom opened up in Jambo House, so we grabbed that. Of course, we can only reserve 7 nights at first so I have to call tomorrow and hope we get the 8th night added to Jambo House 1 BDR. She also put us on a waitlist for Kidani.

Anyone have any thoughts or guesses as to our chances of that coming through at Christmastime? We just preferred having the extra bathroom, but we would be happy at Jambo House too!

So now we are looking at where we would make a request for a standard view at Jambo House. Looks like all DVC 1 BDRs are on the 5th floor. Near the pool would be good, I guess?

You actually have a pretty good shot at a savannah in a Jambo standard if you wish. Most are just tucked closer to the corners of the "arc" and "arms" of the two large wings and none face into the center Arusha savannah - Not necessarily a bad thing: we stayed in a studio facing Uzima and had plenty of animal activity including Giraffe most days. If requesting a pool view there are a couple 1BR standards in the main building as well as those along the inner portion of Zebra trail that would qualify. Enjoy it! We love Jambo.

It's back to Kidani Dec 22-30. Our waitlist request just came through. That was quick! Got the 1 BDR so we will refer to the advice at the beginning of this thread to make a request. Very excited about having the extra space and bathroom!
