Hi All,

I am thinking about renting points to stay at AKL Kidani with the family for a week November 2022. My biggest concern is transportation to the parks especially MK which we are hoping to visit twice on two different days. We will be visiting all the other parks as well. What do you think about renting a car so we're not depending on the busses? Does that make a difference at all?

Thank you!

You are better off taking the bus to the MK as it will drop you off much closer to the entrance. If you drive, you have to park at the TTC and then take either the ferry or monorail over to the MK.

Yeah, there are pros and cons to both. If you drive, you have more control. But then you have to deal with the TTC. The bus is the bus, but at least it takes you to the gates. I'd take the bus knowing that at AKL you are far from things no matter how you slice it.

Never had issues going to MK from there by bus. Can have long lines to come back if you leave MK at peak time. Must admit since they built the overpass the bus ride is usually 15 mins. Just do not make my mistake and do it on race weekend Princess Marathon Day. That one took 2 hours.

If you opt for a rental car at Kidani you can park under the building & likely near an elevator that is somewhat near your villa.
We always rely on WDW transportation & haven’t experienced anything other than the usual Disney transportation annoyances.

We always rent a car. We like the ease of returning to the resort midday and then back out to eat or back to the parks in the evening. Kidani’s parking is awesome.

Thanks for the advice! So, would it make sense to rent a car and use it to go to the other parks aside from Magic Kingdom? I like the idea of being able to easily take midday breaks if we need to. For our first visit last year, we stayed at BLT and loved being on the Monorail and walking distance to MK. We used the bus for the other parks. I don't know whether to say again at BLT or try a different more themed resort like AKV but then so much of what I'm reading says that AKV is a great resort if you don't visit the parks which we will definitely be doing everyday.

When I’ve stayed at Kidani I always had a car. We are early risers and would have no problem driving and getting a close spot at Animal Kingdom, Hollywood and Epcot. Sometimes the family would split up....having the car for an early escape is nice, especially if little ones are cranky. The rest of the family could take the bus back or park hop. The only exception is MK for reasons previously stated. A couple times we’ve parked at Epcot early and took the monorail to MK and then park hopped to Epcot. This was pre pandemic though when Futureworld opened at 9.
Yes we drove to AK from Kidani. The morning bus can be frustrating. If you want to take advantage of early morning hours, a car is better, IMHO.
Bay Lake Tower is very convenient as you already know. Kidani is a very nice resort to be at, but far from parks. But lots of places to eat and shop along the Irlo Bronson Parkway, a short drive up Sherbeth Road right before the AKL entrance.
I personally prefer BLT for MK access. But enjoy Kidani ...completely different vibe.
