Hi there - I own at both BLT and AKV but just booked my first trip (well, actually 2 - one in mid-July in a studio and one in December in a 1 bedroom).

Both rooms will be of a savanna view and I'm trying to figure out if I should make any special requests for my room? I understand that at Kidani there are 2 different savanna's - Sunset and Pembe. After reading a little about them I think I want to request Sunset but now the question do I request a high floor or a lower floor?

Would love to hear all opinions. :)

Thanks,

meg

My Kidani recommendation is always "lower floor, close to the lobby."

Agree with lower floor - main floor level is eye level with the giraffe feeding stations. Agree with close to lobby as well - it can be a long long walk.

If I am remembering correctly main level with lobby etc is 2nd fl, while 1st is actually the under resort parking area, Sanaa, and public walk-out to the savannah viewing area.

We were at Kidani in May and were in a room on the second floor and loved it. It was nice getting to see the animals close up. That said we've been on higher floors and it's fine, you actually have a better view of the entire savannah area when you are on a higher floor.

We stayed on the Sunset savannah, second floor, far from the lobby. We had a car and were able to park right below our corresponding elevator in the garage. So, getting around on property was easy peasy. However, trekking to the lobby was pretty bad. I think it was over a 5 minute walk from our room to the lobby. (I know there are varying reports on the exact time of the walk but the 5 minutes is pretty accurate - it was long).

That said, we loved our room and location. But, we didn't get the refillable mugs and only visited the gift shop once....might not be a bad thing, kwim?

We saw giraffes, some type of cattle, zebras, ostrich...

Close to Lobby is most important period....
The walk can be very long
The pool can be an even longer hike should you end up on the wrong side and an end room... If you have an end room on the pool side you can walk through the an underground parking lot.
My requests would be:
Near Lobby
Pool side of building

Lower floor, close to lobby!

We are here now, on the 5th floor and the second to last bead from the end (pool side). It is a HIKE everywhere. I am a runner/walker so usually wouldn't bother me, but with 2 small children and the fact I'm 7mo pregnant it's not ideal for a relaxing vacation.

I have to disagree that the parking is super convenient. Our room is not terribly close to an elevator, and it is tough to get a parking spot close to the elevator in the garage (esp at night!) So we walk a good bit through the garage, take an elevator then it's still a good walk to the room. Nothing compared to the walk from the lobby, but not as nice as parking right outside the room either!

the lower level (2nd floor to be exact). Near the lobby. That is where we were and loved it..:thumbsup2

Since they try to meet requests in order made, you should make your first listed request "close to lobby" and if if you want lower floor make that second. Close to lobby means you would be on Sunset Savanna so you do not need to make that an extra request but if you do, make it the last one in line.

Why close to lobby should be prime request: there is no hotel in the world that has a longer walk down a hallway from lobby to end rooms than Kidani. It actually takes 5 1/2 minutes adult pace. Close to lobby puts you close to restaurant, pool, store, community hall, bus stop. Also, regardless oif which side of lobby you get you will be near an animal feeding area for viewing them from your room.

Thank you everyone for all your helpful advise and tips. :goodvibes

OK - going to be giving them a call right now to request close to the lobby and then lower floor. I know that they can't guarantee request but can't hurt to put it in there.

Thanks again.

Just posted on another thread about this. We just stayed in studio 7508. It was perfect. Top floor, close to the lobby, and amazing views of animals. It was absolutely wonderful.
