Kidani Room Requests

I did my online check in yesterday for our first stay at Kidani. The most important request for my family is Sunset Savannah since my daughter REALLY wants to see giraffes from our room. I was thinking my other requests were lower floor and of course close to lobby. When I went to check in we could only choose two requests - I ended up picking Sunset and close to the lobby. My concern is that there seemed to be no way to indicate which request was a higher priority. Should I remove my close to lobby request to help ensure I get Sunset? I just guessed if you don't put close to lobby it would be all the go ahead they needed to stick you in a room at the end of a pod since I am thinking it might be the most popular request.

Don't bother to make your requests with online check in. Send an email via the contact form on the member website instead.

DVC Resorts Room Request Procedure

This information comes direct from Disney's DVC Member Services:

The established procedure and appropriate time for making special room requests is when you make your reservation with Member Services. If you have any additional requests, or changes to your original request, call Member Services directly. Please do not call or fax the resort where you'll be staying. To be fair to all Members, the only information we use when trying to honor special room requests is that which comes from Member Services.

With so many Members having special requests, it's important that everyone follow this established procedure. As you can imagine, the number of Members asking for particular rooms, views, floors, and buildings makes it impossible to honor all of the requests. We do our best to honor your requests, but please understand that we cannot guarantee them.

DVC Resorts are no longer pre-assigning rooms by reservation date anymore. They will assign you a room upon arrival while trying to meet your requests you made with Member Services. Should you not like the room that you have been given, you have the option of turning it down and returning later to see if something better has opened up. Doing this means you will no longer be able to still take the first room offered as it will likely have been given out to someone else already.

Nice info but sending your request to MS via the contact form is better than waiting on hold for 30 minutes plus you can keep a record of your request.

I like emailing MS too, but last time it took more than usual to get an answer. So for any time sensitive request (like changing a reservation) I would call. Room requests made in adavance are an excellent request to be made by email.

I like emailing too for certain things, but never room requests. Our room requests are just as important as our resort choice. DVC room requests are different than the main Disney reservation center. When calling, we've never waited more than 3-5 minutes on hold at both seven and eleven month windows. We make the request, I know positively the reservation is documented at that time, and I can see the added requests. No need to wait and wonder about an email request that's saved in my inbox. Fortunately, it's sounds like your "last time" experience was eventually resolved, but that is unfortunately not the case for reservations we've made in the past for folks. We've never not received our requests when calling and if we rent points, we ensure the owner calls as well and we look for the verification. Emailing may be better for some, but calling is definitely best for us and what we advise others to do. I hope everybody has a great trip and gets all their requests answered:)

I find the opposite to be true. Until a couple of years ago, I called for everything. I quickly learned that sometimes the CM would say that they input our requests but it never made it to the reservation.

When checking in at SSR, we had requested Congress Park and they put us at the Grand Stand. I asked why and was told and shown that there was no mention of our request on the reservation. Since then like many other owners, I would call back later to confirm that it was actually added and on several occasions it wasn't. Since Disney/DVC has decided not to make requests visible to the member, there isn't much we can do.

I started using the contact form on the member website and since then, 7 reservation requests have made it to the reservations.
