1 - How many floors will there be? We are staying there in August in a 1BR Savannah View. I requested a room near the pool (I know it is not guaranteed). Should I have requested a low floor t see the animals better and not worry about the pool?

2 - I know there will be a water play area, but will the pool have a slide?

I am pretty sure there are five floors, but the 1st floor is actually underneath parking and probably lobby, etc. I don't think there are any rooms on the first floor due to animal access. There should be animal viewing areas on the ground floor anyway if you want to be that close.

I think which floor is just a matter of personal preference. We were in Jambo over New Years, on the fifth floor and viewing the animals was definitely not an issue. The trade off to lower vs. higher would be the perspective on how you view the Savanna, with higher giving you probably a better ability to see further away. Lower floors might put you a little bit closer, but also consider your potential noisy neighbors above you.

The pool will have a slide, and I believe I have read somewhere that it will be one of the longest at any resort (may just be DVC). Regardless, I think it is supposed to be a good bit longer than the one at AKL.

I have attached a link that has some pics and other information specific to Kidani that may be of interest to you.

As noted, ground floor will have no rooms and some under-building parking. The rooms will be second through fifth floor (probably although they could call them 3 through 6 and count unused ground level as two). Not sure what requesting "near the pool" will actually get you. Savanna rooms do not face the pool but there are ones on the North wing that would be considered near the pool (via a straight line) but not necessarily a close walk to the pool since it is going to depend on where they put the exit and walk area to the pool. However, only part of that North wing will be open in August and those open will likely be those closer to the lobby and probably closer to where the exit to the pool is.

As to floor level, lower floors have more direct sight line to animals, higher you are looking down, as to which is better, it depends on your preference. Also, I would likely avoid multiple requests like both near the pool and low floor because they may then assign you to a room that meets neither request simply because they cannot meet both requests rather than just one.

I also heard the water slide is suppose to be one of the longest. We have reservations for December - please post your impressions about Kidani when you return. Have a great time!!:)

We will be there over July 4th week. I plan to do an extensive trip report with lots of pics since it will be a new resort and so many people are anxious to see what it has to offer. We can't wait to get there.

Thanks for all of the info. I'll just leave my request as it was. I am easy to please, but I know we will be spending a lot of time at the pool in the Aug. heat. My boys will be happy with any slide! Thanks again!

We just sent in our completed paperwork on AKV our first DVC buy. We are using our developer points in May and we were trying to get to Vero Beach :cool1: after to visit some family. We asked for Vero Beach and could only a day after we needed. So we decided to see if we could extend our stay at Disney one day. We thought we would give it a shot and asked if there was anything available at Kidani we expected to get a chuckle 2 months out but to our surprise we were able to book a one bedroom with a savanna view. we will be there May 31st. We will also post a bunch of pictures and review. we may even post them while we are there. I am so excited and think it won't matter what floor we have and or if we are near the pool. :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:
