AnyoNe know if you can use a hard top system (like Thule) on top of an SUV and still use the underground parking?

I know they have spaces outside as well, but I was hoping to keep the car out of the sun.

Thanks!

I guess it depends on how high the SUV is.

Do you have a actual measurement and maybe someone could check the sign.

:earsboy: Bill

It's actually not "underground", it's on the same level as the street (the hotel does not have a first floor). The ceiling is pretty high but I'm not sure of where you go in.

We have used our on our Toyota Highlander and it rubs the bar. Anything higher likely isn't going to cut it. Having it a little bit higher is fine in some of the areas around Zazu elevators but the closer you get to the lobby area there is lower clearance areas where it may be a problem.

Thanks for the responses everyone. We have a new body style Honda Pilot. I'm debating on trying it.

We'll be there the middle of next month and if I can remember, I'll try and pay close attention to the parking and let you know. We're only there for a short 2 days, recovering from work at another location, :) so our brains will be fried.
We've been to Kidani several times and my memory is of very high ceilings when actually in the parking area, what I'm not sure of is the clearance when entering and when going from one section to another.

Thank you! If you think of it that would be awesome! We've stayed there many times, but never used our roof box.

No problem, I printed out this thread to put in our travel folder...hopefully that will remind me. I talked to dh and he remembers that there is a bar hanging at the entrance to the garage that has the height requirements on it, just doesn't remember what they are because it's never been an issue for us.

As you enter the Kidani parking garage there is an overhead bar (across the top) that has the height of 7' 6" painted on it. I did see one small SUV with a topper on it, sorry I didn't get the make and model.
Hope this helps.

bump, hoping mommyoftwo08 reads this. :goodvibes

Thank you!!! You are too nice to have done this for us! Makes my planning very much easier! Thanks again :goodvibes

No problem, I hope it's helpful to you and possibly some others who may have the same issue.

As indicated some areas are higher than others, obviously the lowest being 7 feet 6 inches.

Not sure about the measurement, I might can find out, but in this photo it looks really high.

Please DO NOT use that photo as an indication of the height clearance throughout the Kidani parking area. There is an are before you enter that higher clearance area where the clearance is very low (hence the bars indicating 7' 6" clearance before you enter the covered parking area.)

Okay, took me awhile but here is a picture of the entry bar as you enter the Parking Garage.

and the entry from further back (sorry for the poor quality)

I corrected my post, just remove the photo then.

No worries Sammie, before I went on a quest to help the OP I thought the height was much higher. Inside the garage it is, it's just getting in and then a few low bars throughout the garage one has to worry about.

yes that was what I was told when I talked to a friend at the resort. That area is the lowest area, which has to be posted but other areas are much higher.

:thumbsup2 It really can be deceiving. I would say that it is very dependent upon each vehicle and their particular carrier. With our Highlander and carrier we had very little room to spare. I can't imagine a large SUV with a carrier fitting through the tight spaces.
