Starting to plan an early Nov.2014 getaway. We have only stayed at AKL when it first opened so never at the villas. Do you suggest Kidani or Jambo? Right now I am 4 weeks into healing a "new knee" but I expect that will not be a problem in the fall. TIA

We've stayed at both, and give Kidani the nod.

Since it's just DVC it's quieter and more low-key. We also love the pool/water features. Also we go in the summer (kids' schedule) so the underground parking is nice in the heat.

We do a big grocery trip when we first arrive, so fast food (Mara) is less of a priority. However, I think it's near a mile walk between Kidani and Jambo, or a drive, so that might be a factor. I know when the kids were younger, it was nice to have fast food close by.

Having stayed in studios at both locations we MUCH prefer Jambo over Kidani. We like the layout of the studios much better and the ambiance and feel of Jambo. The kitchenette is a lot bigger in Jambo and we like the bathroom configuration better too. When you use studios the size of the kitchenette is important.

It's also nice that the Mara is right downstairs at Jambo for a CS meal option. Even tho we usually do our breakfasts "in" we did pop down there a few times on our last trip. We arrived LATE from our flight down and the Mara was open until 11:30. Our initial flight was supposed to leave DC at 4:10 but it took off late which cut our time short in ATL where we had to xfer so no time to eat in-between flights. We landed at MCO at 9:10 and even tho we only had carry-ons by the time we got to AKV and got checked in (had also done online checkin) it was a few minutes after 11:00 and we still hadn't eaten dinner. The store closed at 11:00 so we were realllly glad we had the Mara available as an option to grab a late dinner. If we had been at Kidani we would've missed getting there before it closed because it's so far away. We went down for breakfast on what we thought was our last morning and our DS got a really good flatbread. Bcuz of a snowstorm in the northeast/mid-atlantic we ended up staying over 1 additional night so we ended up going down for a 2nd breakfast too after we got our flights moved etc. We also did 1 lunch there while we were inbetween parks. The Mara was very handy indeed on this trip… We would always pick Jambo over Kidani as long as it was available.

Congratulations on your new knee. You will love it in the fall. I've got two now and it makes vacationing much better.

At Jambo House, all the bathrooms have the combined shower and jetted tub. At Kidani Village, they have the separate shower and jetted tub. So it is easier getting into the shower at KV versus JH.

Jambo. Like being near the action - Having the Mara nearby and we like the pool better.

Jambo for Studio, and Kidani for 1 Bdr.

Just stayed a week in savannah view studio at Kidani... Had room 7406 - 1st bead from the lobby on 4th floor... Had animals outside off and on during the day... Seemed more often in afternoon... The shuttle ran every 10 minutes (at the most, usually 5) and even in the pouring rain, we still had no problems getting to Jambo for dinner at Boma's... I do like the shop at Jambo better, but getting on the bus first this trip was enough to decide me for future trips (2 50s adults)

Stayed in Jambo studio and loved it. Giraffes seen all day long. This year we are doing 2 nights at Kidani studio savannah view. Traveling with my DD, DS and DGS who just turned 1 and thought he would like the splash pad at Kidani.

We have only stayed at Jambo but did walk over to Kidani once and also got off at the bus there once just to walk around and check it out.

I think I would pick Jambo every time. Both are nice but I prefer the amenities of Jambo house.

We've stayed at both. Kidani is very nice but I prefer Jambo so that we are closer to food court area & main house. Now, if they were to ever build a food area over at Kidani, I might change my mind. Also, we LOVE the value studios @ Jambo :-)

Kidani for us because of the buses but do prefer the pool at Jambo. Both are great though you can't make a wrong decision!
