Kidani Opening in May! Questions..

How many building will be open? Will the savanah have construction going on still? Is it worth it to stay here in June or should we wait until it's almost complete. I am worried about the savanah's not having enough animals and feeling like I am in the middle of a construction zone.

We are booked there for the middle of June 2009 and we were told the savanna should be complete with animals but there would still be construction going on. They more than likely try to acclimate the animals to the new areas months before they are actually available to book.

We were told the same thing about construction in 2007 when we stayed at Jambo House but never heard a peep so I don't expect it to be a big deal this time around either.

Post #50 in this thread shows the Kidani Units that have been declared so far. As you can see, no Units have been declared in the building segments furthest away from Jambo House. That part of Kidani is scheduled to open in Sep 2009. It's hard to say what sort of construction work will still be going on there in June but I suspect it will be interior work. Those Units are right next to the pool area and since the pool is supposed to be open in May I can't imagine they would still be doing outside work, kicking up dust, etc. while people are using the pool. Many (most?) of the Savanna View rooms will face the Sunset Savanna and that should be open by May. The Pembe Savanna will not open until Sep 2009, along with the rooms in that part of the resort.

Will the restaurant and pools be fully operational? The pool looks fantastic and I would really like to try and stay this June.

Yes, the pool will be open at Kidani starting May 1, 2009

What does declared mean?

Declared = units in a new building that have been declared into the DVC system and thus are currently available for sale. Usual way of selling is declare some, then as those sell, declare more, etc. When you purchase you actually get a real estate interest in a particular unit. You may never actually stay in your own unit since when you reserve you can end up with any room in your category regardless of the which unit you may have an ownership interest in.
