Currently we are staying at Kidani we are staying in a one bedroom savanna view room. The view is amazing but let me run down my last few days here at hell with a heavenly view.....
Checked in Satuday to our supposed one bedroom savannah view room and were unhapply surprised to find that our room had no more then a view of a few wild pigs....boar if you want to be fancy and a uncovered chain linked fence. Right away I ran five corridors back to the lobby and asked if this room I was given was a REAL actuall factual savanna view, they said yes and I explained my dissapointment. This is NO way worth what I am using in DVC points, so I was moved....good right?????
WRONG, I was moved to a room that is a bit closer to the lobby on the 3rd floor has a GREAT view of the savanna and we walk in and BAMMMMM it hits me, *** is that smell???? OMG it smells like the previous guest spilled something into the carpet and left it ther to die, I once again complained and was told that maybe it was a smell left from housekeeping and I should give the room a chance to air out, OK so I know this was not the smell but WHATEVER I was tired of complaining and I just wanted to change and hit the pool. So SUNDAY morning and the smell is still there so I call housekeeping and they come up to spray the room, housekeeper says OMG what is that smell that is horrible and I say I HAVE NO CLUE?????? She sprays the room and we are on our way. We come back and wouldnt you know it that smell is back, so I call housekeeping again monday morning and they spray once more and again we are on our way, but wait we get back monday night at 10pm and the smell is back, so tired and stressed to my witts end of all this drama I call the front desk and demand to be moved, we get moved and the room location is on the 2nd floor and the view is just as great. So I lay my head down and finally fall asleep at 12am.............then *** is that noice...drilling....is that really a drill, and do I hear hammers????? What time is it.......OMG it is 8am, you have got to be kidding me. I call the front desk and sure enought they are doing some resort upgrades to the uderground garage right under the 2nd floor and they will be working throughout the undergroud parking lot all october from the hours 9am-5pm.......I could scream I cant take this anymore, this resort is really not worth all this. Dont get me wrong the rooms are great and views are one of a kinds but all this other nonsense just takes away from the resort.
I currectly have DVC points in Saratoga and AK and I would love to trade in my AK points for all Saratoga......NO need for home resort priority here as I NEVER was to return..........at least anytime soon.

I'm sorry to hear this, you must have felt like you were in a bad movie! What the heck was that smell anyway? :confused3 Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

Wow, that really stinks -- no pun intended. The smell is inexcusable -- I'm sorry. And....didn't they know that there was work being done right underneath your new room? They could have at least warned you and let you decide whether or not you wanted to move.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I hope it was an isolated incident(s) and your next stay at AKV (if you ever decide to go back) is magical.

Wow, I'm sorry - the Kidani staff is among the best I've encountered, I'm really surprised to hear this. You should not have been treated like that.

It sounds as though the smell may have been from a bottle of bad cologne that tipped onto the carpeting. A good steam cleaning is in order there. I never would have tried to sleep in a room that smelled bad - you have no clue what that is in the air or what it will do to you.

There's an address you can write to do tell them of your disappointment. Hopefully they can work with you so you will give Kidani a second chance.

Are you sure that after complaining about the lack of savannah view from the first room that they didn't put you in the savannah and called it your second room?

Or maybe you got to see the boars from the first room and was moved to where the boars lived in the second room?

Anyway, I'm very sorry your experience was horrible. It is a terrible thing to look forward to your vacation and have to put up with extra stress. It is a wonderful resort though. Give it a try again soon. Your experience couldn't be worse.

Yes my experience was way less then magical my first three nights.....however the Kidani staff is really very understanding and have really worked with me to try and make up for things.
Work has been ordered to start no earlier then 11AM and as for the smell this room is ordor free.
My vacation points for my horrible three nights will be credited back to my account as I requested and so far that is helping me deal with my Kidani let down.
Not all was bad though prior to my visit here on saturday my family and I stayed here the 9th in a studio savanna view and loved it, we then went on a seven night eastern carribean DISNEY cruise and LOVED every minute of that.........so we came back to kidani and things are not perfect but YES the staff is really trying to make my stay here for the remainder of our vacation special.

Glad to hear DVC is trying to make things right for you. Enjoy the rest of your trip... Hope our experience in 13 days is better than yours at Kidani. It's our first trip "home" and it would be nice of it were as close to perfect as possible. Thankfully you got some resolve and because you spoke up, maybe things will be better for all of us at Kidani.

I think I know those rooms overlooking the red river hogs and the chain link fence AND the animal pens. My DD and I were looking for the giraffes. A CM told us that they usually start out by the hogs and then move through the savannah. True enough, there were all five giraffes standing and eating right next to the hog pen. BUT there were also other animals also. Not the exactly beautiful savannah but there were plenty of animals out in that area.

So Wed. morning I had the sweet sound of a jumbo jet taking off right from under my room.....is that right????? NO of course NOT, it was 330am and every 5 minutes like clock work my room would vibrate and a jumbo jet would fly out from right under my bed.....or at least that is what it sounded like. My husband has HAD it, fed up with all this mess he got out of bed to investigate the sound.....what was it......... a fork lift doing runs back and forth from one end of the parking structure right under our room.........the faster he went the louder the noise was. My husband searched out the night manager and she was shocked that this work was making so much noise.......
HAVING had it up to here with Kidani we were ready to trade in our plane tickets four days early and throw in the towel........
We were soon contacted by the same manager and offered to move rooms again.....but to JAMBO this time. We accepted because at this point REALLY what could happen?????
Well we are here at JAMBO and I really wish I had booked here in the first place, it is so much grander and so much quiter......NO underground parking lot and it is NOT a work in progress like Kidani.

Sounds like fun!!

NOT!!

Your first savanna view room was bad because there were no animals?

Sounds like a case of BBO - must have been the valet.

Something is rotten, and it's not in Denmark.

Maybe that first room wasn't so bad afterall. All you could see is pigs but the room didn't smell like one.

LOL, Jambo is more quiet than Kidani?

Definitely NOT my experience.

Was at Kidani for 9 nights in September. Very peaceful the entire trip and no weird smells anywhere.

Your experience with teh smell reminded me of a Seinfeld episode. Sorry, but I had to laugh.

i'm going in 18 days with guests. i just added on a few points there last year. this will be my first trip to kidani and let me just say $%&@ $%*@:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I will FREAK out if even alittle of this experience happens to us!!!

I currectly have DVC points in Saratoga and AK and I would love to trade in my AK points for all Saratoga.......

It's probably not possible, but I will gladly trade you my Saratoga Springs points for your AKV points .... straight up, point for point .... up to 200.

Your experience with teh smell reminded me of a Seinfeld episode. Sorry, but I had to laugh.

So funny that is exactly what came to my mind. I LOVE SEINFELD.

Well I am about to lay my head down for my first nights rest at Jambo.....have to say I love it so far....because of Jambo I actually want to keep my DVC points here. I can definitly see myself coming back......with all the drama we were upgraded to a Kilimanjaro Club level one bedroom suite here and the view is killer. 100times better then any view at kidani.....our room view is of the wide open sunset savanna we have tons of animal traffic of all kinds

So sorry for your bad experiences. I think we had pixie dust with us from the start. We have a beautiful, clean, spacious 1 br in Kidani. The giraffes were just here. We usually have cattle and ostriches. There have been zebra here too. We stayed in Jambo house a while back and we were kind of disappointed because the 1br was small. We even kind of wished we hadn't bought AKV points. But let me tell you - we are happy campers here in Kidani!
