Kidani Dreams - An April 6-15 PTR -Name Tags!!-Updated 3/28

There is plenty of food the kids will like. When we went there was spaghetti, chicken and perhaps some sort of pizza in the "kid" section of the bar. They had other items as well, but those are things I remember. My super picky DD tried some of the chicken from the "adult" section as well. She really enjoyed Boma and wants to go back, which is saying something. Truth be told though, it is probably for all the amazing desserts.

This is good information. Also, if the desserts are anything like the ones at Cape May Cafe, then my super picky DD will be happy. 75 more days !!!

YES CARROT CAKE COOKIE!! There's the good stuff at DHS!!! :rotfl:

I think that you should have no problem finding stuff your kids will enjoy at Boma. There's a few more "basic" buffet offerings, but a lot of the spices tend to lean towards the sweet side there, which is definitely non-threatening. I'd recommend the Fufu, which is a blend of sweet and white potatoes, and lots of sugar and butter and cinnamon. They're SO good!

Oh, and there's usually A TON of desserts to choose from! But a few of them do contain alcohol (including zebra domes), so you may want to keep an eye out for what the kids are grabbing! (Don't worry, anything that does have alcohol in it on the dessert table is labeled!)

They are just as good, if not better. Although, Cape May had a much better selection for people like me who can't eat the dairy desserts.

We leave in 23 days! I am so excited. I am ready to get out of this taco stand and get back to my happy place. It has been so busy at work that I completely let making ADRs get away from me. I was hoping for California Grill, but of course no luck. So Artist Point it is. I've been wanting to go there for a while, and they have a chicken dish, so Miss Picky Pants will be happy.

I love that carrot cake cookie !!

I will definitely to try those potatoes for sure.

Looking forward to the desserts especially if they contain alcohol. Not for the kids though.

I worry more about DD accidentally getting something with nuts in it, so I really have to pay attention to what they have on the dessert table. She is badly allergic.

Yay for 23 days. You let ADR's get away from you ??? Does not compute. I would keep trying for California Grill, though. Let me know how your trip goes. I am so jealous. One of tennis pals is going on a three day cruise on the Dream with the girls next weekend and I am super jealous of her too.

I have to wait .....pout. But ..... I still get to go.

Be sure to mention that to your server, then one of the chefs will walk you through the buffet line, they'll point out exactly what she can or can't have. In my experience, the chefs at Boma are EXCELLENT with allergy concerns!

That is the plan. some places we don't have to worry at all, but some are a real concern. I even cancelled our Ohana ressie for this trip because I was so worried about cross contamination. Too many nut sauces and such at that one. It just isn't worth it.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Day 5 – Part One

This will be a special day. We will be concluding our Kidani portion of the trip and progressing on to the Dream portion. We will be checking out of AKL and driving to Port Canaveral to board:

I am so scream-in-my-pillow excited about this !! It will be our first cruise ever !!

So this will be our embarkation day and since I have never been on a cruise, I am not sure what that will entail. I imagine we will arrive at the port, park, and head into the terminal to so all of the security stuff and finally board the ship.

I checked a bunch of places online and there are no negative reviews of this cabin, so that is encouraging.

I know our cabin won’t be ready until 1:30 PM, but I want to get there as soon as possible so we can start exploring the boat. I couldn’t be more excited.

There will definitely be a Drink of the Day

IMG_1077.jpg

I am sure the kids will want to swim and try to get a ride on the Aquaduck.

aquaduck-Thumbnail.jpg

We will probably go to Enchanted Garden for lunch since I have read Cabanas is crazy on embarkation day. I like to sit down and eat.

We are slated to have late seating for dinner. And I am not sure how I feel about this. I am the kind of person who likes to eat early. But I have read that if you have the late rotation, you get to eat the later breakfast on the disembarkation day.

We are on the waiting list for early dining rotation, so we will see.
And because I don’t have our dining rotation info yet, I don’t know where we will eat for dinner.

We will check the kids in at the clubs. I really hope that they like the clubs and can make some friends. I would so love to spend some quiet time with DH and maybe snag a dinner ressie for Palo.

Looking at the navigators on the Cruise Line Thread, it is hard to tell what show will be on this night. Also, it appears that there is so much to do. Seriously those navigators are so packed with information that it is overwhelming. So if we are bored at any time, it will be our own fault.

We will definitely try to catch the sail away party. Other than that, I guess we will see what happens. I completely can’t wait !!

Sorry it took me SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long to get back here and comment. We went out of town for the weekend to spend some time with our youngest son and his girlfriend, and I've been running around trying to get last minute things done for my trip on Thursday.

Okay....here i go.

Love the intros. You have a beautiful family.

You will LOVE the one-bedroom villa at AKL. Mark and I spent two nights there in September and fell in love. We planned a Disney cruise in 2013 for our 30th wedding anniversary, but have decided to spend at week at AKL in a one-bedroom villa instead.

We enjoyed the one time we went to Yak & Yati and can't wait to go back.

Your Day 2 plans sound great. And you now have me singing Imagination and I can't stop. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Tell your DD that she is 100% correct. Disney popcorn is better than popcorn ANYWHERE else in the world!

Day 4 sounds great too. Love Writer's Shop; and you really do need to try TOT -- it is my favorite ride in all of Disney.

Love the photos of the Disney Dream...looks great.

I'll try to stop by one more time before I leave on Thursday so I don't get too far behind.

thank you so much. Fortunately, the kids got all of the good genes.

we saw it on our tour when we bought in to DVC in June. We thought it was lovely and can't wait to stay there.

We enjoyed the one time we went to Yak & Yati and can't wait to go back.

I have always wanted to try it. It always smells so good when we walk by and gets good reviews on the dining thread, so we had to try it.

sorry. LOL. There are worse songs to have in one's head.

I will let her know. Maybe I need to give it another chance, huh.

I love Writer's Stop, too. Carrot cake cookie is sooo good. OK. I'm gonna try it this time. You hold me to it.

they are just stock photos from the internet, but looking at them makes me so happy and excited. We booked over a year ago, so we have been waiting for this for a while now

I'll try to stop by one more time before I leave on Thursday so I don't get too far behind.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I really appreciate your input. If I don't see you this week, have a great weekend.

I'm not sure how (especially since it's in your signature!!) that I completely forgot about the cruise portion of your trip!! That's going to be SO much fun! Your cabin sounds like a great setup! Hopefully you'll be able to switch to the early dinner seating, but if not, I'm sure that it won't be too big a deal! You'll just have even more time in the afternoons for activities and swimming and those drinks of the day!

We are beyond excited. I don't think we will mind late seating. I just prefer to eat earlier. I am sure it will all work out for the best and be fun anyway. You are right, plenty to do and see.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 – Disney Dream – Castaway Cay

We are sailing on a cruise that is called the “double dip” which means that we will visit Castaway Cay twice during our cruise. This will be our first Castaway Cay day.

I am sort of worried for myself on this day because I am allergic to salt water. I know, it’s weird, but every time I get in the water, I get the hives. So I may take some Benadryl and see how that works. Because I really don’t want to miss out on fun stuff.

Anyway, I can see DS getting really excited about Pelican Plunge

slide1.jpg

And I can see DD having a good time here.

Water-playground-on-Castaway-Cay.jpg

I am hoping that the kids will find some kids club things to do so DH and I can spend some quiet time on the adult beach.

We also might try the stingray feeding activity

castaway-cay-stingrays.jpg

That looks like it would be cool.

And maybe try some snorkeling as well.

Castaway-Cay-3.jpg

And of course we will eat at Cookies BBQ or Cookies Too or whatever it is called.

DCL_Dream_CastawayCay_cookies-goldhaber.jpg

Anyway, we will see what we can fit in. The beauty of the double dip is whatever you can’t fit in on day one, you can get back to on day 2.

After a day on the island, I imagine we will get back to the boat later in the afternoon and get ready for dinner and see the Villains Tonight show. After that, we will just see how tired we are. Very excited about this day.

Just reading your post got me excited about your cruise :woohoo:

It all sounds amazing, I haven't had the chance to go on a disney cruise as of yet so am looking forward to your report!

I read your previous trip report and was just wondering about vinylmation trading, is it only done in stores with cast members?

Ohmigod .... I'm so excited !!

Thanks so much for reading. We now are in love with Vinylmation !! Yes, you trade at the gift shops with cast members. Some of them have a box with 15 and you pick a number and then if you like it, you trade. If not, you get to pick another number. Some CM's let you pick a few more, some just stick to two. There was one CM in the gift shop at the end of the Figment ride that would only let the kids do one each. We called him the vinylmation czar LOL !!

Thursday, April 12, 2012 -Day 7 – Disney Dream - At Sea

This will be our At Sea day and I am sure we will all be looking to rest up as much as possible.
First on the agenda today will be a sleep in.

I imagine if the weather is good that we will spend some time at the pools

pool-deck-nightx-large.jpg

Maybe take another ride on the Aquaduck.

aquaduck.jpg

DD wants to ride the slide at the pool

Mickey-Pool.jpg

After that, we might head inside to do the Detective Agency

Detective-Agency-Midship.jpg

And maybe do some shopping

shops1.jpg

Or we could head up to the top of the boat and play some miniature golf.

And then maybe we can drop the kids off at the kids clubs

Disneys_Oceaneer_Club_Pixie_Hollow.jpg

And head over to Pink and try some champagne

I am just as excited about our At Sea as any other day. It will be nice to just take it easy.

There definitely seems like there's enough to do on the ship for at least several at-sea days!! The aquaduck looks SO cool, and the regular pool slide looks like fun too! Can't wait to hear about all of these fun things!
