The choice has been made, Kidani. :thumbsup2 But deciding on what requests to make has me spinning. :scared: I've read higher floors for a more expansive look, lower floors for close up but could possibly be blocked by feeding areas, near lobby for less walking, away from lobby for better SV....at this point, I'm going  See, that's me going  Can you be near the pool and have a good SV? Elevators, what's the issue there? Sounds like you could be like city blocks away if not planned properly? And what bead? Like the beads in a necklace (thanks Sammie for that info). And on what side of the necklace, the pool side or not near the pool side? And I've over walking to Jambo, that's what the shuttle is for. Right? :upsidedow

:worship: <----- me begging for help.

I really enjoyed being on the 2nd floor since it's the same as the lobby. I loved having a quick walk to Johari Treasures for coffee in the morning and my kids enjoyed the quick walk to community hall! I would definitely request it again in the future!

Thank you! And did you have a SV?

Part of the story regarding the shape of Kidani is that represents a necklace and each segment is called a bead. Cute eh?

I never heard the one about getting a higher floor for a more expansive savanna view. To me the point of having a savanna view is to see the animals and the higher you are the smaller the animals. And sometimes the tops of trees block your view when looking down from the upper floors.

Yes you can ask for the Pembe savanna near the pool and close to an elevator. But keep in mind the more requests you add the less chance they will be met. So make your most important request be your first request.

Regarding the locations of the elevators most of the time an elevator will be close to your room but it might be further along the hall versus towards the lobby. At the very end of each bead those rooms have the longest walk to an elevator because there isn't a second elevator option.

Maybe if you look at the map it will help to understand what we post. http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/Kindani_Village_Map.jpg

P.S. I don't know why Disney doesn't bother to place elevators on the maps. You'd think they'd realize people would want to know that information. :rolleyes1

I love the bead necklace story! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the map too.

The CM yesterday told me the higher the floor, the more expansive the view. :confused3 We had a 5th at Jambo and thought it was fabulous. But of course, that was before I knew my view could be even more fabulous. ;)

I'm thinking that floor number and near lobby would be my most important requests. I've paid for a SV that I'm thinking that's guaranteed. I don't know as I prefer one savanah over another.

Here is a map with the elevators. http://allears.net/acc/kidanimap1.jpg

We found being very close to the lobby was not the best viewing for the animals, as they seem to stay further out.

As to lower floor or higher. We found when the animals were close, not often it was nice to be on a lower floor. However there were times when the animals were further away and due to noise wished we had gotten a higher floor.

So my request would be pool side, half way down, and higher up, but others might vary.

Also if you get a room near the lobby, know that everyone has to pass your door to get to their rooms and it was a lot of noise. The doors to the hallways really let the noise in.

We have only stayed in Kidani once so far, but I really enjoyed being close to Community Hall and on a middle floor. I think we were in the 4th bead on that side. Great view. Disclaimer: we didn't use the pool and had a short hike to the lobby.but we didn't mind walking to Jambo and liked being on the side with the bus stop as well.

Hmmmm......pool side. I hadn't thought of that. We do love our pool time.

So in order of requests would you go: area (pool side or near lobby) and then floor?

I think I'm making this more difficult but my kids put on so much pressure. Seriously. Both times at the GCV we got the same amazing view so they think it's something I can just do. Love their unrealistic faith me. Last time at Jambo, through no doing of my own, we got a SV when out friends reserved a Value view. At the POR we scored pool side. They have been über spoiled and are now view junkies like their mama. They are super grateful always and it's fun for me but this might even be too much for me to pull off: the perfect Kidani location. :faint:

I agree with those who suggest close to lobby, and lower floor. We were on the 4th floor and I thought the view was fine - then we spent some time down at the community hall and I realized how much nicer the view was from a 2nd floor balcony. I honestly don't think you can go wrong, and as some have already suggested, the more requests you make, the less likely you are to get them. Stick with the one or two that are most important to you.

I would quit worrying, every location has pros and cons.

We were close to the lobby and it was noisy and the animals were always away from that area.

I think about half way down would be my only request and not floor or side.

Thank you. I hear what you're saying, if I get too picky they'll right me off. I really am so happy with my Kidani choice.

Half way down to avoid the mega walk to anywhere? Gotcha! And quit worrying? ;) I think neurotic is the term.

Thanks again everyone. :goodvibes

If you want close to pool just make that a request. My personal recommendation is close to lobby but close to pool should not put you too far away from the lobby. If you have not been to Kidani, imagine yourself at Epcot and you have just crossed over from Future World to the World Showcase and are at the base of of the nations between the two stores that are in that area, now walk to Germany. That is about the distance from the lobby to the end rooms on the north wing at Kidani and the reason why we ask for close to lobby because we have been there and done that.

We actually find being close to lobby to have good viewing of the animals including because there are feeding areas nearby but as with any location it varies because the animals move about and are not everywhere all the time.

I fully agree with Sammie. And remember that a request is just that, a request, and the room assigner may not be able to give you what you want.

I know I'm in the minority, but the long walks down the hallways at Kidani don't bother me. Between each bead are large glass windows that offer views of the savannas. Since the views are different than the view I see from our villa's balcony, it gives me a chance to see the savannas from a different angle and perhaps to watch some animals that aren't near the part of the savanna I can see from my room.

See that long lobby walk sounds like no fun to me.

I know requests are requests and I need to chill. I appreciate all of the responses. :goodvibes

We found the week we were there, the zebras are fed near the viewing area, but not the giraffes as there are no trees close in.

They seemed to stay much further out. Next I am asking for middle bead. I don't want near the lobby anymore. Too noisy for us and the noise from the viewing areas seems to make the animals move further out.

It was a loud bunch there the week we stayed.

I like your 4th bead idea. Makes sense why the animals wouldn't like the noise.

Glad to help, at least you have been appreciative, which is more than I can say for another thread where I simply tried to share the most up to date info I have been given by management. :sad2:

We did not have a savannah view in Dec and I asked for near pool. It was great . We overlooked the pool area and did not have a long long walk to lobby or bus stop. We we had a savannah view last Sept we were almost at the end of the building and while the viewing of animals was wonderful it was a long hike to the lobby or bus. It was just DH and me and we didn't mind but wouldn't have wanted to have to be coming back from the parks with tired children etc.
