If two couples are sharing a 2BR, wouldn't a lockoff be better, since the second bedroom would have one bed and one couch rather than two beds? What else am I missing when comparing the two different versions?

Lock off will have its own entrance and will contain 1 bed & a couch. (its a studio thats connecting to a 1 bedroom)

Dedicated gets you 2 queen beds BUT no separate entrance, everyone comes in and out the same way.

All lock-offs have separate HVAC thermostats and a kitchenette in the studio with coffee pot, microwave and very small refrigerator.

I don't remember the specifics at Kidani, but in many resorts the dedicated room has a bigger closet since the entry hallway is eliminated. But for two couples, I think a lock-off is definitely the way to go. The connecting door can be open or closed depending on the need for privacy, and I wouldn't underestimate the benefit (as pointed out by @disneynutz ) of the separate thermostats.

With a dedicated, the balcony will be one long open space, with a lock off, there is a divider between the 1br side and the "studio" side.
