I've seen the resort offer for "kid sized packages" with three nights and two days of park tickets. Is that a good length for a first trip or is that not long enough?

I dont think that any trip is long enough!! That being said the shortest time we have gone is 5 days and felt that was not enough at all. We tend to do 8 days in the parks and that works out well, but would love to do more someday when the kids are older.

When it says "3 nights and 2 days" that is just the minimum stay with this package. We booked the "kid size package with free memory maker" and are staying 9 nights at POR with 7 day tickets. I was unaware of this also until I called to book our stay and my family of 5 was given this offer for our dates.:thumbsup2. The price is just adjusted for the extra days.

My opinion is no, 2 park days is not enough! I'd a least do 4 so I could spend one day at each park.

I don't think that is long enough at all but if that is all your budget can afford it is still worth going. Personally, I won't go unless we can afford to spend 4-5 days in the parks.

Oh, I had no idea. Thanks!

I think the least amount of time I'd want to go is 5 days, but we aren't a park hopper family.

I just saw the commercial for this offer in our pediatrician's office this morning. I believe it was the commercial with the young children running up to the different characters in the park?? I think they advertise the minimum number of nights that you can book the package for (they also show pricing for a family of 3 in this commerical), so that it can appear to be more affordable, especially for families that feel they should wait until their children are "older" to take them to Disney. That's my take on it. It looks like this commercial is definitely aimed at families with children under the age of 5. For some families with young children, three nights might be a good "starter" or "introductory" trip, especially if they only have their sights set on maybe just Magic Kingdom and a few character meals. But for many families that have to drive long distances to get to Disney or are paying a lot for airline tickets, three nights may not be worth it even if they plan on going back to Disney within a year or two. We have done 8 days/7 nights and 7 days/6 nights with visits to all four main WDW parks (and Legoland once) on both of those trips. For trips that involve doing all four main WDW parks (with perhaps extra days at MK and Epcot) and maybe an "off" day to maybe resort hop or go to Downtown Disney, the ideal trip length for our family would probably be maybe 9 days/8 nights.

I just set up my vacation for the free memory maker. It really depends on the age of your kid(s). My son will be 19 months old when we go, so we're doing 5 days/4 nights, with a 4 day pass (no hopper). I figure Friday night at Epcot, Sat & Sun at MK, and Monday either HS or AK, most likely AK.

And surprisingly, got my dinner ressie for CP! :cool1:

I can't imagine 3 nights being long enough. But, our first trip with both our kids was for 10 nights, and it was perfect. We had lots of good down time relaxing, and kept to the kids' (they were 2 and 4) pretty normal sleep schedule. This helped as I've seen families with young kids having meltdowns when they're just too worn out - we didn't experience any of that!

I have met so many folks thinking that their kids were too young to enjoy Disney. To us, that didn't make sense. We enjoyed the time together! There is so much to do with young ones, and it's really stress free with the transportation options and plenty of kid friendly foods. Lots to keep them entertained, which was great as my son has ADHD.

We go at least yearly and have done everything from 1 day to seven days in the parks. There is no "enough", but if I can do one day I'll take it! We were just there last week for a couple of days after a family wedding - 1 full day and 2 half days in the parks, it was enough to satisfy me until we go back for a longer trip in the fall.
