What are some of the best kid friendly restaurants? So far we have reservations at the Castle at MK, Coral Reef, and Ohana's, and a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's.
Do y'all have any good suggestions. I want to go to Artist Point, but I'm not sure about the kid friendliness there.

Hi Stitch, and welcome to the DIS. I would agree with you that Artist Point is probably not that kid friendly of a restaurant. Check out wdwig.com for the menu, and you'll see what I mean. Our kids are 5 and 16 months. The 5 y/o loves SciFi in MGM. He also likes any character dining, but he was a big fan of Donald's Breakfastasaurus in AK.

We are taking the kids to the Whispering Canyon Cafe, I have heard good things about it. I am also considering Trails End Buffet and Mickeys Backyard B-Bque. Last trip they enjoyed Prime Time 50's and the Rainforest at AK

50's Prime Time in MGM is very kid friendly. They really go all out....

We had our final dinner at the Garden Grill in Epcot and my kids loved it (it turns), and is was a Character Dinner. It was very casual, and the food was "family friendly"! One of the best dining experiences we had was at The Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney. I was afraid, because our priority seating was not until 8:20 (past my 2 and 5 year old kids' normal bedtime!) but it was great! Even if your kids act up - there is so much going on there, nobody will notice!!

Since you have children, you must try these two. Wow...they will love it. We actually stayed at WL our last trip and missed Whispering Canyon but will make sure to hit it this May. I've heard the kids absolutely love it!

Hope you and the kids have a great time...just seeing the magic in your children's eyes is worth it all!!

1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace are wonderful too!! Pooh characters at CP and Cinderella dinner at 1900PF with Fairy Godmother, Suzy, Perla and Prince Charming himself ;) as well as Cindy, my kids loved it and the atmosphere is lovely!
Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill are also fun and have a relaxed atmosphere.

I don't think you can go wrong with character meals in my opinion. They are all wonderful and my children (& I) enjoy them so much!!

Remember, we are talking about Disney here. I really think most restaurants expect children and all the behavior (good and bad) that comes with them...

I agree with this. They are all "kid friendly" (except maybe V&A). We eat at all the really nice restuarants at WDW with our children (now ages 10 - 4, but we have been going since the older one was 3) and the children have always been made to feel as comfortable as the adults at all of these places.

You know, I think they are all kid friendly, its the other customers that'll give the dirty looks.

I vote for Crystal Palace, any Magic Kingdom restaurants.

Stay away from California Grill and 1900 Park Fare and I think you'll be OK anywhere. Ohana is awesome family restaurant.

Even the epcot restaurants are OK. Remember your a paying customer too.

Enjoy

I've taken my children (4 and 17 months at the time) to Artist Point and it was VERY child friendly. They have the standard children's menu you'll see in almost any WDW restaurant, with the usual child favorites. My kids had a great time, while DH and I were able to enjoy a great meal. they even have the BEST dessert for little kids. It's a paint your own Mickey White Chocolate Puzzle!!! My DD LOVED IT!!!! When we eat at the nicer WDW restaurants with our children, we usually eat at one of the first available PS"s since these meals take longer than most. So, if we're in by 6PM, we'll be out around 7:30 or so, long before my kids start to become tired and cranky. Leaving all of us to have a GREAT meal!!! I'd definately eat at Artist Point, it's wonderful!

Edited to add: My kids have also eaten at Narcoossee's, Jiko, Flying Fish, Yachtsman's and California Grill, they've enjoyed them all, and everyone of them is family friendly.

I can relate to the dirty looks but you know what? They shouldn't come to a place where you never have to be "grown up" at heart if they don't want to see kids (big and small) Looks from others can only bother you if you let them. I do my best to make my boys behave like gentlemen (4 and 2) no matter where I am so I just smile at the nasty-eyed ones and tell them to have a magical day.

That's a great way to end a meal " Have a magical day"

Agree with everything you said. I'll bring my kids to anywhere in Disney, in the same token I expect them to behave as much as they can, if not they know we'll be taking a walk, this always works. Even though we bring them to nice restaurants there is still a respect level of others around you we like to adhere too.

It's a balance.

Enjoy

I have always thought, what better place than WDW to expose children to fine dining? They can be taught how to behave in a nice restuarant which welcomes children and where there are lots of other kids around (versus a non-Disney fine dining establishment, where one's young children may be among the only kids in the place).

I am just back from my vacation. We ate at Artist Point with our kids and it was child friendly. Did not feel weird at all. Also, while we did not bring our kids to California Grill, many did so I wouldn't worry about it either. Both have great kids menus that you can find at www.allearsnet.com.

I would highly recommend Whispering Canyon. Ohana's was fun, too. However, WC was hands down the most fun. Kids also like Prime Time Cafe, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace. My kids enjoy the San Angel Inn as well.

Really you can eat anywhere you want with your kids except Victoria and Alberts. WDW restaurants are very child friendly.
