So the wise DIS'ers have talked me into having a non-park day on our trip. Or, at the very least, a non-planned day. If the girls decide that they'd like to revisit a park, I am more than happy to go add an extra day onto our tickets and hit a park for a 2nd time. But if everyone needs a break, that's ok with me. I'd rather have 5 park days with happy, well-rested kids than 6 with cranky ones. ;)

What are some things that we could do on a non-park day though? I'd like to at least have a few ideas I can pull out of my hat, especially if it's too cold to spend the day at the pool.

We'll have me, DH, my parents, a 6yo and two 2yo's (all girls). We're staying at POR and will be relying on bus transportation. We've got nothing planned outside of all 4 parks plus some DTD time on our arrival and departure dates.

Fort Wilderness can occupy a good deal of time.

There's pony/horseback riding, Tri Circle D Ranch, archery, bike/boat rentals, Trail's End restaurant, two dinner shows, Campfire singalong with Chip and Dale, and more. You can also boat over to Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary.

It's a totally different side of WDW. Relaxing and laid-back :)

Ditto Ft Wilderness! Visit AoA and take pictures, take the boat from HS to Boardwalk and rent a surrey bike or eat at the Brew house!

Mini golf over by the Boardwalk. It was a lot of fun and the designs at each hole were amazing.

If you don't go to a park that day, I'd simply plan a resort day. Swim a little, wander around, etc. Visit some of the other resorts. Plan an ADR for dinner somewhere. I'd keep it easy a simple-chill out, watch some TV, etc.

another vote for Fort Wilderness plus what has been mentioned also some loops and other areas have play areas to run around at

We are one of the families that never plan a non-park day. We did when we first starting going to the parks, many years ago, but we have learned we prefer the parks to anything else, and adding a day or two to the ticket is much cheaper than many of the other things people end up doing. If however you decide to do a non park day, here a few fun things we have done over the years:

FW and have a meal at Trails End Buffet. Take the bus to the MK and the boat over to FW. Such a relaxing and fun time. Allow some time to just run around there too.

DDT-So much to do there that a second trip would work. There have the BBB there and Lego store and Once Upon a Toy. We would end of spending much more there than adding a park day. I have boys but they love Dino Cafe.

Resort Hop- Take boat to MK and visit all the mono-rail resorts.

-Mini-Golf

-Arcade at your resort. Play Ground at your resort. Swim at your resort.
-A dinner Show like HDDR
-A character meal
