Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

I am really enjoying reading your TR :goodvibes

We stayed one night late to watch the 2nd Spectro and had the best time watching from the deck of the train station :cool1:

What a great evening!! Don't you just love it when a blunder becomes a great experience!!!:goodvibes
They really should have 2 sizes/prices of kids meals. The ones they serve for the most part seem good for children until about age 5 or 6. They need an option for larger children/larger eaters. I think it would be a great option to be able to pay the difference to get the adult plan for an 8 or 9 year old, if appropriate for that child, without having to upgrade the ticket.
But then again, at least they have a dining plan!!

Looking forward to more adventures!! (And food porn)

Sounds like you had a great night!

Your spectro blunder just goes to show there so much to plan for sometimes things get forgotten and not remembered! DH and I got caught by Spectro on Main St after dinner at Narcossees! UGH!

I sounds like LJ is having a blast!!! Riding BTMRR with wishes going on must have been so cool!!

Can't wait for the next installment!

Welcome Minnie and thanks! I have always wanted to watch Wishes from the train station, but I never seem to get there in time! The only time I ever got to wishes early was when I went alone!

Yeah - the spectro thing worked out pretty well! As it turns out we never did watch spectro again. LJ thought the whole parade was AWESOME and he loved being on BTM during Wishes.

I do think they should have two children size meals. I guess I could have gotten him the adult meal plan but there are so many foods he doesn't like or is afraid to try that this seemed like the best option.

I don't know how I forgot about spectro, but I am glad we got to see it that night. It really is a cool parade and I never get tired of seeing it.

When I asked LJ, "What did you like better EE or BTM," he said "BTM". That whole night time ride is so fun. This is the second time I've ridden it during wishes - very magical!

Kudos to DS for learning to drive stick -- my dad made me learn on a stick, but I must admit, I have never driven anything but an automatic.

I love Magic Kingdom at night!!! :cloud9: Although I must admit that it is always dark when I ride BTMRR because I close my eyes and hang on for dear life.

Oops about forgetting about Spectro, but at least you found a good spot to watch and got some great pictures. :thumbsup2

LJ and your boys playing with the guns cracked me up -- Connor just naturally heads straight for those things when we get off of Pirates.

Just goes to show you there are no blunders in WDW. What a happy accident! I've never seen Spectro but am looking forward to it!

Also never done Jungle Cruise at night -- that too is on my list.

This sounds like it was such a fun trip! I'm sure LJ had the time of his life!!

:scared1: about the unexpected nighttime visitor (unless it was Capt Jack Sparrow ;)) and the rash. :scared:

What a great end to a perfect day! Isn't it funny how life throws you curves (the timing for Spectro)? I did the same thing back in December (I was solo 4 days before my daughter arrived and wanted to ride BTMR and I couldn't get across the parade route so I thought I'd just head out of the park & go back to BWV. Well I ended up getting turned around and found this little stone wall sort of behind some trees and a couple girls were standing on it with their cameras ready for the parade. I thought "what the heck" I might as well see what this was all about and stood up on the wall and had a perfect view of Spectro). The 2 teen girls were perfect for getting the characters to wave to them and then they saw me between the trees and waved too! I had a blast!)

I wasn't able to ride BTMR afterwards cuz the line was too long but I will remember that time always. The girls were fun to hang out with during the parade and I got some great pics (now if only I could find a way to post them on here I would actually write a TR!)

That pic on the Carpet Ride was so cute! Your nephew and your boys are having a great time!

What a nice evening! You were able to accomplish a lot! I love the unexpected viewing of Spectromagic. I love that, I think it's my favorite nighttime event at WDW.

I am really dreading this whole rash thing! :scared:

Sounds like a very fun evening! Oh No! Not the rash! I got one there in 2008 and Caitlin got one in May!

OOOh...to your pictures of Spectro...you took some great pictures...however as far as blunders go that wouldn't be one I would mind having!! Hmmm...I didn't know about the opposite route its taking I will have to look into this so I can make sure to pick out a good spot to view from LOL!!!

Jungle Cruise at night is such an amazing experience and something I want to do again and again...the jokes crack me up each time LOL!

Glad LJ was having such a great time!!!!

love the spectro pixs!! what an awesome little 'blunder'!! BTM always seems sooo much faster at night than during the day. I never rode it during wishes... i'll have to try that sometime:thumbsup2

I agree about the kids meals. After much trial and error... i've figured out how to satisfy my kiddos. Use the cs for breakfast and just buy lunch OOP. That way the TS is usually enough (especially since we love character meals...so we do alot of buffets)! yes it costs a couple extra bucks... but it is still cheaper than paying for the adult plan for a 8-9 yo;) Since we don't have 'breakfast' everyday... on the days we do.. I'll buy 2 or 3 kids breakfasts at a time. The kids bfst choices at the resorts always seemed more 'generous' than the lunches.

I agree with the others that said that the teens need their own TR:lmao: Wonder what they found to keep themselves busy;)

I have yet to watch Spectro which is something that I want to do. Your pictures are great. They make me want to see it even more.

Talk about timing! Saved by the phone. I can't count the number of times stuff like that happens with our teens and we have to change our course.

:lmao: On the stick shift. My parents MADE us take our tests in a stick, if you could drive that, you could drive anything. Fast forward to testing day.

Me. 1972 Pinto. In the rain. On hills. Death trap. Not good.

Needless to say, I didn't pass. As the oldest of 6 I decided to wait it out much to my parents frustration. I always had a boyfriend who could drive me wherever I needed...or my bike or my feet and I knew I would turn into the family chauffeur. About 6 months later I went and took it on my own, in someone else's car (non-stick lol) and passed. After the fact they decided it was immaterial and I could still be the family chauffeur.

LJ seems anything but frail. It sounds like he might have oldest child syndrome. Oldest child in a house with lots of smaller ones. They may just not realize what he's capable of. How fun for him to get to stretch himself with you, what a great aunt he has! As the oldest, I know I was held back from some things (bedtimes, tv shows etc) that my siblings sure weren't! My folks just didn't' know any better...at the time. And got a lot more relaxed as it went on.

He seriously has no choice! Both our cars are old and we didn't really consider that he would be driving one of them when we bought them. Once we realized I thought :scared1:

That's how I first started riding roller coasters when I started taking me kids to amusement parks. To get through anything scary, I just closed my eye. First trip on RnR - eyes closed. Now I only close them in the beginning!

Oops about forgetting about Spectro, but at least you found a good spot to watch and got some great pictures. :thumbsup2

It did turn out to be a good spot! :thumbsup2

LJ and your boys playing with the guns cracked me up -- Connor just naturally heads straight for those things when we get off of Pirates.
Boys and guns! DS 14 still heads for the guns!

CP - I see you updated today. Can't wait to read it!

:rotfl::rotfl:Capt Jack Sparrow! Love that! No, my night time visitor definately did not fall into the category.

No blunders in WDW......let's see about that! Actually, our first day was filled with lots of good Mojo. It was a great day!

:thumbsup2 To Nighttime JC. Put it on your Sept list!

I love that story about Spectro! And now I know the secret to getting the characters' attention - teenage girls! I'm so used to hanging with boys I never thought of that. :rotfl:

You just have to download your pics to a site like photobucket. Then you see the links come up below that picture that you use for copying and pasting. It is the last line that starts with html. It's very easy.

What a nice evening! You were able to accomplish a lot! I love the unexpected viewing of Spectromagic. I love that, I think it's my favorite nighttime event at WDW.

I am really dreading this whole rash thing! :scared:

Love Spectro - can't wait to see it again! I think its probably my fav as well! You will be finding out about that rash real soon!

Sounds like a very fun evening! Oh No! Not the rash! I got one there in 2008 and Caitlin got one in May!

Let me know if it sounds like the same rash after you read the next update! I'm curious!

Glad LJ was having such a great time!!!!

Thanks! I really wish I could take better night time pictures, but I think we just need a better camera!

Now you will be ready for the parade to go the opposite route when you go in September (unless they change it back).

I love JC. And I love all the jokes, too!

:thumbsup2 for BTM during wishes, except that you can seriously give yourself whiplash trying to look from side to side to capture all the fireworks!

Smart plan for the kids meals. It also took me a couple days to realize how much I could sub on the kids plan. Then I always tried to get french fries and give most of them to LJ. God knows I don't need them.

I have yet to watch Spectro which is something that I want to do. Your pictures are great. They make me want to see it even more.

You MUST do Spectro! It is definately a must see!

Those teens kept throwing wrenches in all my carefully crafted plans. You will see that I was not quite so lucky escaping confusion and frustrations in my future installments.

I love your story about the stick shift drivers test. When I bought my first car it was a stick and I couldn't even drive it off the lot. Needless to say, I learned fast. There was another time I had to borrow my dad's car for an extended period. He had a K-car with a 4 speed that shifted, no lie, like a truck. That was fun to drive. Nowadays the manual transmissions are sooooo easy and smooth that they are pretty fun to drive. Pretty effortless.

I think you summed up LJ perfectly. I could not have said it better. I agree - his parents don't realize what he is capable of doing!

I did! :goodvibes

Seeing that you used to close your eyes on roller coasters, maybe I should just keep riding them and work up to opening my eyes.

Definately! If I can open my eyes (big chicken that I am), you can! The first time I rode RnR I remember somebody saying to me, "Are your eyes watering? I can hardly see". I said, "My eyes haven't been open since we left the stop light".

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: That would so be me!

I really wanted to start Day 3 tonight, but I spent too much time reading all the other cool TR's out there. If I missed anybodys' TR tonight, let me know. I am having trouble keeping track of all of them. I never even made it over to the PTRs tonight....having too much fun over here!

I did want to tell you guys that DH and I decided to do the DxDP in September. I am pretty excited about this, although I think it will probably be too much food. But I wanted to do at least one signature meal and I really wanted to do two. Of course, If we are going to do two, it just makes sense to add the DxDP, so we decided to go for it. Plus what's a signature meal if you don't have an appetizer! We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary. It's one month early, but hey, who's counting!

So I am not going to reveal all our dining plans yet. I am going to save it for the end of this TR. Let's just say that it was impossible to get Le Cellier, Ohana, and Chef Mickey's because we are only going on a 4 day trip. I also can't get Tusker house breakfast or Yak & Yeti for lunch. What's up with that! Being on a 4 day trip during free dining puts us at a distinct disadvantage for getting prime time ADR's. Fortunately, the signature meals we want are pretty much wide open:thumbsup2 Another reason for upgrading!

Well you know what.....I've typed this long, so I am going to save the suspense and tell you about my night time visitor. Technically this story counts as part of Day 3, since it did happen after midnight. We got home from MK around 11pm. Notice that I was already keeping LJ out way past his bedtime and it was only Day 2! He, of course, got his own pull out coach ready and was in bed and asleep in no time. I, unfortunately, had a little bit more trouble settling down. It had been a jam packed day and I needed some time to decompress, so I put Stacy on the tube. Stacy makes me tired in no time. Ahhhhhhhhh :cloud9:dreamland :cloud9:. It felt so wonderful to be drifting off to never, never land.

And then....DUN..DUN..DUN.....a sudden, unexpected noise startled me out of my new found slumber. It was one of them......the dreaded teenagers.....in my roon at 12:15am. "Mom, I can't sleep. My leg is really killing me" :scared1:"What?". I didn't know whether to be pi$$ed off or concerned. I knew DS16's stress fracture was still bothering him a bit, but this was ridiculous. It must be really hurting for him to wake me up. And when he did I could not think straight. I said, "Take some more Motrin. Take a bath in the jaccuzzi tub". I meant the first statement, not the second!

I didn't expect DS to take me up on the offer, but he did. So its 12:15 and DS is taking a bath in the jacuzzi tub in our bedroom! :scared: I hate that feeling when you are just going to sleep and someone wakes you. Its the worst. On top of that, DS jumps in our tub at midnight. Fortunately, I was so tired that I managed to drift off while DS was still in the tub. So fatigue won out over irritation!

So.....how was DS in the morning and who got the mystery rash?????? Stay tuned for my morning update!
