Keys, Wallets, Cards, etc.?

At Disney I carry my room key, id, and inhaler in my spibelt. I check my phone, sandals, jacket, and spare cash.

Locally I sub in my car key for the room key, if no one comes with me.

I normally don't carry anything with me except my fuel. Everything else - phone, room key, cash, credit card - goes into the checked bag along with a change of clothes, comfy slides or flip-flops, and a jacket. For Disney, I make an exception and bring my phone with me to use as a camera for the character stops.

Do you bring your keys, wallets, money, phones, cards, etc. to the WDW Half Marathon/Marathon? If so, do you carry them during the race? What's the best way to handle these items that all of us usually have with us at all times?

Just trying to figure out a strategy as my first Half Marathon draws closer.

I carry my room key and $20 in pocket in my shorts. Sometimes, if feeling risky, I might bring my phone and put it in my checked bag. That's it. Everything else stays in the room.

I would have a shirt in the bag (since it is clear) and wrap the keys in the shirt prior to checking the bag.

Can you check your own bag? I have only participated in a bag check once and I just brought my own sinch sack type bag, pinned the tag from my bib on and wrote my name and cell # on that in case it was misplaced. :thumbsup2

I really don't like to take anything running but my iphone that is strapped to my arm.

Negative, for “security” purposes runner must use the clear bag provided at the expo. Crazy? Yes. However, it does make sense to limit checked gear to a supplied bag otherwise the bag tents would have to deal with everything from a baggie to a trunk.

I put my room key, ID and a bit of cash in a small ziploc and pin it in my shorts pocket. I carry my bloks and some tissue in the other pocket. I check crocs and a jacket for after the race.

Well today I did a 20 miler and I simulated what it will be like at WDW. I carried all of my fuel in my Fuel Belt (makes sense. lol) and then I carried my other stuff in my iFitness belt. Wearing them both was fine, it worked great! I had plenty of room for everything and it was comfortable. So now I'm prepared in that sense. yay!

For the 2010 Wine & Dine I placed my regular backpack inside the clear bag check bag and checked that so if your sinch sack is small enough to fit in the provided bag you can do that.

I have seen that. But I have also seen a runner have to dump the backpack; granted that was closer to 2002 and 9/11 memories. I think the bag is to help the tent folks as much as anything.

I carry a $20, room key and my license in my iPhone armband. My gels, beans and chomps go in my Spibelt. Since I stay on site, I don't have a car, but when I drove to my last race in NY, I tied a knot around my key ring with the drawstring of my running tights.
