Hi everyone! :wave2: I'm going to WDW this December (yippee!) and I'm planning on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, and some others. My question is will my wonderful DD (17) princess: be able to peek into the costuming or wardrobe depts? She has taught herself to sew, make patterns, and is currently being mentored by a well known fabric artist who says that she is a "born theater kid". It would just make her little heart beat with joy  if she were to see and possibly meet some seamstresses (and anyone else really) from WDW costume dept. Does anyone know?

It totally depends on the tour guide and on the size of the group. When we went in January 2004 we didn't get to look. We had a smaller group and extra time so we went behind the scenes on an extra ride rather than in the wardrobe department. I know others have seen it though, although it may have been several years ago. I'd let her know that it is a possiblity, but not a likely one. Wouldn't want to get her hopes up for nothing!!

I can't honestly remember if we did on the Keys tour, but I know that we did this past November when we did the Backstage Magic tour. This one takes you to MK, MGM, and EPCOT, it's 7 hours, and you see pretty much EVERYTHING. We saw both were they keep the costumes, and the costuming department, how they designed them, cut them, sewed them, whole nine yards, we probably spent 30 minutes to an hour there (can't remember exactly but it was a good while). If that's what your daughter is interested in this might be a better choice. Plus it has sooo many other great interesting things that you wont see on Keys, well worth the time and money. Hope this helps.

DH took Keys to Kingdom tour in Jan 2002 and saw a whole lot including costumes. But they told him, due to Sept 11, they would be changing the tour and making it tighter in regards to security. In Jan 2003, we both took the tour and alas, no costumes, we really only spent a little time in the U. tunnel. It was still a great tour, and depending on the guide, you learn different things. But, the above poster's tour, Backstage Magic, sounds more like what you are looking for.

Thanks! I'd love to do the backstage magic tour but we don't have time on this visit, I'm saving that for my next visit (tee hee the one DH doesn't know we're taking!).

We took the KTTK tour back in January 2001 and we really didn't see much in the way of costuming. We saw the area where the CM's pick up their costumes everday and we did see the room where the princesses were getting their hair/makeup done but we didn't actually get to meet with any of the people who make the costumes.
