Worth it? DH and I have always talked about doing this tour and this year my Mom and sister are coming so they can watch DD for us if we want to go. What is it like? What are your opinions on it? Thanks!!

Personally, it wasn't our favorite. We thought it was a bit long and too much standing in the hot sun. They gave some great info, but we were bored and waiting for it to end. I knew a lot of the Walt info from TV shows I have watched before. My fiance was waiting for the utilidors part of the tour, but you just stand there while the guide points at some pictures and then you watch a video of how the costuming department works. We were in a lot of CM's way the whole time while we were down in the utilidors and I felt bad about that. The info they gave you during the private Jungle Cruise was great. When we got to the Haunted Mansion, she told you a lot before you went on the ride, but my brain was over it by then.
That being said, I have a co-worker that loved the tour and did it a second time, with friends.

We LOVED Wild Africa Trek in AK, it was more expensive but well worth the money. We are doing that again on our next visit. Such a unique experience and they have a photographer with you and get the pics at the end. Last year they mailed you a CD with your pics, but I believe they recently changed it so you can download them with a password and link they give you. You got close ups of the hippos and the walk over the rope bridges was cool - Disney safe. Your tour group gets their own safari vehicle/jeep and pulled over to see animals where regular safari jeeps don't. I think we had 16 on our tour. Much more personal and lots of info. Depending on the tour time, you get a light meal (breakfast or lunch) on the savannah overlooking the elephants. Excellent memories!

Did this tour a few years ago and loved it. Truly gave us a different perspective on a lot of things at MK. From what I've read I think most of this depends on the guide. Our guide did a great job and I would recommend it to those who have been to WDW a few times and are looking for something different and have the time to give to a half day tour that takes all of that time and more.

I husband is a HUGE usless (or not so usless) information buff.....Sounds like a tour that is right up his ally......I am think I might be the most awsome wife ever and surprise him with this :lovestruc

My husband and I loved the tour and my Husband as well is a huge information buff and there is a lot of interesting facts and stories to hear. (2 years later he still repeats some of the stuff when Disney comes up in conversation, that I do not even remember hearing haha) We had a great guide and kept us entertained the whole time, personally we found it worth the cost.

DH and I did it about a year and a half ago. We really enjoyed it. I am a total Disney Nerd, so our guide didn't tell us too much information that I didn't already know, but it was still really interesting. It was a lot of standing in the heat, but our guide tried to stop at places that had a ledge or something for us to sit on. We walked around quite a bit in the Utilidors. I think a lot of what you get out of the tour has to do with who your guide is. We had a young guy who was a local and had grown up at Disney - you could tell he truly LOVED every single aspect of being a cast member.

We had to wait several trips for my daughter to be old enough - and we loved every minute of it. Really great experience.

Yes some of the info was stuff we knew, but there were definitely tidbits that we hadn't heard before. Our guide was exceptional at pointing out things like the gradual changes in the architecture between lands, how they meshed the various concepts. It was a fantastic experience.

Thanks for the tips everyone!!! I am excited to book this tour now and we are going in December so hopefully heat will not be an issue.

I can't wait to do this tour in September. I have always wanted to go "beneath" MK. :thumbsup2 I just wish April 1st would get here so I can book it. :)

I bought my BF tickets to this for Xmas and he was thrilled. I've read nothing but great things about it. He's an info buff/loves background info on everything. I think we'll both really enjoy this! Hope you have a great time!

I took the tour 2 years ago. I was one of the best things I have done in Disney. The tour guide does make a difference!

We really enjoyed it! I think it does depend on your guide though.

Ours was super friendly and even answered questions during our lunch. It is a lot of standing/walking but it's one of our favorite memories! :cloud9:

(Also, just in case anyone was wondering, we had a lady in our group that hurt her ankle the day before our trip and she was in a wheelchair and was able to attend too. She just did alternate entrances for certain things.)

Can anyone give me some details about this? The Cost, how long it takes, and do you have to have a ticket for MK that day?

Oops...realized I already posted. Lol.
The only change is my 180 day mark to book the tour is now March 31st since we added a day. I'm just so excited to do the tour. :)
