Is the age limit 16 for this tour? DS will be 14-1/2 when we go in March and would love this tour. I would love to surprise him with it but I thought I read the age limit was 16. Why so old?

Yes the age is 16. According to the info, a photo ID is required.

The age is 16... they do require a photo id... there is no exceptions on this. When we went on the Backstage Magic tour this past year, we were told that it was because of insurance reasons. No one is allowed backstage unless they are 16.
When I went on the KTTK tour a few years ago... we were old that it was because Disney didn't want to ruin the magic for those that still believe.
It's my guess that it has more to do with insurance because they do not make any exceptions... the 40+ women that were on our tour this summer had to go back to their rooms to get their driver's license. Not that they were old... but it was beyond obvious that they were not under 16.
This gives you a reason to go back to WDW!!!

Yes I can vouch for the age strictness. We were there this past August and my son wanted to go on a tour. He turned 16 the DAY WE LEFT WDW and they would not let him go. We decided to wait till next time. I've done both Keys to the Kingdom and Backstage Magic and they really are stict.
