Keys/Parkhoppers on Lanyard?

It's been a very long time since I've been to WDW so please forgive this beginner/newbie question :)

Regarging PHP, not the ultimate hoppers, but PHP that you might purchase from hotwire or ticketmania or even ahead of time from Disney.... are they card type things like the room keys or are they paper? If they are paper, about how big? I'm trying to figure out if they will fit into the lanyard ID holders everyone's been talking about or if I'll need to figure out another way to carry them and not lose them or get them wet.

Tracy51, PHP's are the same size as a regular credit card. The ones from Disney are plastic with rounded corners (like a credit card), and the ones I bought from Hotwire are a heavy paper with square corners. Try a credit card in your lanyard pouch and that will tell you if your PHP's will fit. I bet the resort room keys are the same size too.

Water won't hurt the plastic ones, and from what I've read on here, it doesn't seem to affect the paper ones either.

I'M FRUSTRATED!!!

I went to 3 different Wal-Marts and not a single person in the sporting goods department knew what I was talking about when I asked where the clear pouches for holding fishing/hunting licenses were. They all looked at me like I was a "stupid broad" and directed me over to women's purses (which was fruitless).

Where in the sporting goods section of Wal-Mart do you find those? What else is around them?

Any help is much appreciated since, as usual, people at Wal-Mart are clueless. :confused3

If there's a shop that sells uniforms (like nurse's clothing), you can probably find the clear plastic envelopes there too. Most hospitals have plastic ID cards that people wear on lanyards. The envelopes I have are like little zip lock bags of very thick vinyl. They don't look real sturdy, but they are meant for daily use and I usually only have to replace mine about every other year.

Thank you for the suggestion SueM...but does the one you're suggesting have the ziplock closure (to keep things inside from becoming wet)?

I'd really like one that another poster suggested in this thread that has the ziplock closure.

Any Wal-Mart shoppers out there that can help me hone in on where those evasive ziplock id holders are in the sporting goods??

I didn't see them in my sporting goods dept either but I did find them over by the mens wallets for .97

Since the existing holes didn't go through both sides of the holder, I removed the string lanyard, then I used a hole punch in the center (between the existing holes) & hammered a grommett into it. It was easy to do! The grommet kit was also from Walmart.

A good majority of the passes are encoded on a cardstock-type (paper) card, roughly the size of a credit card or business card. I have seen some that are on a plastic card of the same size (I believe these come from the Disney Stores, but not entirely sure). The UPHs (and any pass that is purchased from a hotel) are encoded on the hotel key cards, which are plastic as well.

At our WalMart, they're sold around the jewelry department. They have lanyards also, but we bought the zip-lock pouches which is probably what you're looking for. Ask for "ID holders on a string" and see if that helps!! They're only $0.97 each so pick up several!

Thanks for the info on the size of the passes :) Now I know what size holders to look for.

I also had trouble finding the wallet size holders in the sporting goods dept of Wal-Mart. But I remember seeing some plastic badge holders that might work when I was at Office Depot the other day. I bet other office supply stores see something similar if you're having trouble finding them.. not sure how much they'd cost though

I bought the disboard layard and ordered the plastic pouch from www.laughingplace.com. It came with a cool mickey head attachment and i love it. They look so good together so i can hold my tickets waterproof and start collecting some pins now. :)

The one I have has a ziplock closure on the top. They have various kinds, some are like vinyl ziplock bags with a a hole molded in the top (above the ziplock part) to attach a lanyard. Some are just a vinyl envelope without a closure.

Thanks so much to those who gave the tip about the holders with the ziplock closure! May you all be sprinkled generously with pixie dust! :wizard:

I have a lanyard/holder which I have been using that was part of a AAA package , but the holder has the track type closure where you have to line up both sides then squeeze to seal it. This ziplock one is SO much easier & faster to open/close. We are headed back to Disney in December so I bought 5 today at Wal-Mart. Now all of us will have one of these nifty holders...and you can bet I will be sure to tell them where I got this tip. I am finding out the most wonderful info on these boards...thanks again to everyone for being so great about sharing!

Just punch a hole where the magnetic strip is not located and you'l be allset

A good idea in theory, but in practice, not such a great idea. If you punch a hole, and use a clip or keyring type thing to hold the pass, the pass will tend to get bent/wrinkled at the point of contact, which COULD cause it to become stuck in the automatic turnstile equipment. Also, some CMs punch a hole in the ticket to signal that it's been de-magnetized and needs to be replaced. (not common, but it happens sometimes)

(y'know, I really want to live in theory. It seems like everything works in theory ;))
