Anyone ever go to Key West? ...Specifically one resort there called the Banyan?

Any luck with trades there? This resort in particular?

If not, any predictions on the availability of this?

I've seen the resort and it's beauty is the location. It is not worth an even exchange of DVC. It will be hard to get in the high season but fairly easy in the low season (summer and fall). They Hyatt resort downtown and the Galleon will be the top choices. The second Hyatt will be a better resort but not as good a location.

There is also a third Hyatt - Hyatt Windward Point. Stayed there in May. It's a wonderful, new resort with great views of the ocean and one of those infinity pools. However, it's not downtown or walking distance to downtown.

Dean, Thank you. You seem very knowledgeable about these exchanges. I am actually not as interested in the Hyatt as I am the Banyan.
If you've heard any more success stories about II, I would love to know. So far, the negatives seem to be outweighing.

Thanks very much for the information!

When are you looking to go and what size unit do you need?

The only months I could spend an entire week and offer alternative weeks for traveling would be March and June.

Can you do an exchange for less than a week at one of the Hyatts?

June should be easy and March basically impossible. I am not sure how flexible the Hyatt points system is but I suspect members can do exchanges for less than a week. If they can, no reason you couldn't work something out with a Hyatt member for less than a week. My guess is that you'd be just as well off doing a full week if any of the weekend is involved.

At Hyatt, you can do a 3-day weekend, or a 4-day midweek stay. They just added another option of a 2-day midweek stay. Of course, as Dean suggested, this would only be through a direct arrangement with a Hyatt member, and not thru II.

I figured March would be harder, but maybe the second week in March better than the fourth. I know you have to give choices of weeks or choices of accomodations. I would probably give 2nd week in March, and a couple different weeks in June as options. Good to know March his a difficulty. I suspected maybe.

Maybe I'll just go the Arizona Biltomore in July or August. Now THAT is off season!! Oh, only about 115 degrees there. Not humid though!!
