Staying onsite (HRH) at Universal for the first time ever for 3 nights this upcoming October before we head over to Disney. What are your favorite places to eat there..Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner..Thank you in advance.

I'm not Kevin, but we enjoyed the burgers at Richter's in USO. They also have those cool 'build-your-own' coke machines!

We were under-impressed with Mythos. Tasty, worth the $$, but didn't live up to the hype.

We really liked The Three Broomsticks! Breakfast was universally yummy. Dinner was terrific except for the Cornish Pasties. they are nothing like the ones you can get in the UK and not yummy enough to be worth pretending.

We didn't get a chance to eat at CityWalk except the food court (blah). The poolside restaurant at Royal Pacific was fantastic (just beware of the DJ! ;))

HTH,
Hillary

PS - We are a family of 4. Me, DH, DSthen-10 and DS8

Three Broomsticks is a counter service restaurant that doesn't take reservations.

However...if you book a Harry Potter package through Universal that includes the breakfast, you will have to make reservations for that.

You really should check over on the Universal boards. We have a whole sticky thread on food at Universal with menus and lots of photos.

I don't think Kevin is the one to ask about Universal. I know Pete talks about Mama Della's alot and raves about how good it is.

As Lisa has said....Universal is not really my strong suit.

Mama Della's is good. We've been there a couple of times ad their house salad is terrific.

We have also been to Emeril's and Tchoup Tchoup in the Royal Pacific. Emeril's was good and Tchoup Tchoup was good on one occasion and bad (awful) on another occasion.

Aslo in the Royal Pacific...we have tried the American Bar (eh) and the breakfast buffet...which was decent.

Also, we have been to a couple of places in City Walk, but not for quite a while.

None of them were worth a repeat visit, as far as I was concerned.

Hope that helps.

We loved Mythos! Worth going. They do not take reservations until the day you dine. They open about 10:30 ish and you go to the podium and make your reservation.

I have eaten at Mythos twice now...and have made reservations well in advance, both times.
Was it the best meal I've ever had? Nope. BUT...it was very good both times. The atmosphere is fun, our servers were attentive on both occasions.
I have also eaten at Tchoup Tchoup twice now. Last April, after a night at US/IoA (HRH), 2 nights in Cocoa Beach, 4 nights on the Dream, and 2 nights at WDW??? Tchoup Tchoup was the best meal we had...the entire trip!!! DH was ridiculously impressed!!! So glad I booked it for our night out, without dd.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. After reading this thread I made reservations on opentable for the following: Mythos, Tchoup Chop, Emerils' and Mama Della

Mythos we are going to do for lunch and the rest are dinner one nicer restaurant each night during the length of our stay. looking forward to it.

thanks again! :goodvibes

I visit Universal quite often and as Kevin and Lisa mentioned Mama Dellas at the Portofino Bay Hotel is good. In my opinion it's the best restaurant on property.

As for lunch we enjoy Mythos at Islands of Adventure. Decent food and a great view of the theme park.

I can't think of any of the restaurants that stand out for breakfast. The resort buffet breakfasts are pretty much standard fare. You maybe better off enjoying a quick service meal for breakfast. The Croissant Moon Bakery at IOA is pretty good and Sal's Market at Portofino also offers some good breakfast items. I would not recommend the character breakfast at IOA (Confisco's Grill). The food is not very good.

As for restaurants on City Walk the best I've had is Margaritaville.

I have only eaten at two table service locations, and both were special plated meals, so they may not be indicative. Bice at Portofino Bay and Mythos. Bice looked like it may be more function oriented.

Both meals were good.

At Mythos, our server seemed to have trouble understanding "lactose intolerance". One of the items was a combination corn chowder and lobster bisque in a single bowl, with a dollop of sour cream I believe on top. One of my dinner mates told him she was lactose intolerant, so the server went to ask the chef (umm...chowder? bisque?), then after several minutes returned and without saying a word took the bowl away. Several minutes later, returned with another bowl...which contained the chowder and bisque, minus the sour cream...

Later, when handing out dinner roles of various forms, he gave her the cheese roll...

We had the burgers at Richters a couple years ago, and they were on the messy side but tasty. We also had some stuff from the Captain America place at IOA, and it was OK but nothing to really write to the DIS about...

Mythos, like Le Cellier, does not live up to its hype. What could? No restaurant is that good. But I haven't had a bad meal.

I like Mama Della's well enough, but I have no strong desire to go there. My best friend, OTOH, will rave about it for like 15 minutes if you give her a chance. I think it is her favorite restaurant anywhere. I get scared to even bring it up, because I know I'll have to listen to her go on and on.

I forget the name of the snack place at PBH, but there is this little "muffin" which is really a tiny cake with raspberries on it...OMG - best treat I've ever had.

The Jimmy Buffett restaurant has truly yummy, good food (and yes, the cheeseburger comes with lettuce, tomato, Heinz 57, french fried potato...and an excellent pickle). It ties with Pastamore. Love it!!

The basketball one was good, too - and you can put your feet into the cement footprints of bb stars.

I didn't like the Bob Marley "restaurant" at all. Ugh.

Nascar was surprisingly good - I really thought it would suck, dunno why. I guess I thought all the food would taste like grease or oil or something. I don't know anything about the racing, but they had racing stuff.

I'm a HUGE fan of Pastamore. LOVE that place. Yum.
