Hi Kevin,

I really enjoy your restaurant reviews and the attention to detail that goes into every one. Keep up the great work!

My question is of a restaurant you mentioned on a show maybe a few months ago. I don't know that it was an actual "review", but you spoke very highly of it. I believe it was a steakhouse off property, but close to the world, that you and John have been to several times. A place that you could dress anywhere from casual to formal and feel very comfortable. Does this ring any bells?

I'm looking for a place off property to celebrate after running the marathon this weekend and this restaurant sounded perfect. Thanks in advance for your help!

Jason

I think you are referring to Stonewood Tavern.

It's on the corner of Dr. Phillips Blvd and Conroy Road....maybe an 8 minute drive from Hotel Plaza Blvd.

5078 Dr Phillips Blvd
Orlando, FL

We also recommend Celebration Town Tavern....and while you will find steak....I wouldnt describe it as a steakhouse.

Hope that helps.

DH and I had dinner there last month and loved it. Of course, we also thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Celebration Town Tavern and dinner at the sushi bar at the Poly.

Felt like we were doing some sort of homage to Kevin and John, as those were consecutive restaurant meals.

We had leftovers from both Stonewood and CTT for later in the week.

Good luck with the marathon!

Kevin,

I'll be eating in Celebration the day before the podcast cruise and along with Celebration Town Tavern I was looking at two other restaurants: The Market Street Cafe and Cafe D'Antonio. Have you had any experience with these two?

Thanks in advance to you or anyone else who answers.

I have dined at Antonio's several times. It's a great place with some terrific outdoor seating.

They are also open for lunch....which is much less pricey.

Havent dined in Market Street Cafe in many tears.

I always think I'm going to try it...and when I get close, I think..."well....I could go to Celebration Town Taven as long as were here."

The Tavern always wins.

Yanno, I told myself I was not going to post about this as I thought it was probably just a bad night but the more I think about it, the more I think it was worth sharing.

My DH, DB and DSIL went to the Celebration Town Tavern on New Years day for dinner. We took my two year old DS.

I have to say that the entire meal was a disaster.

The server began by explaining where they get their seafood (flown in from Boston 3X a week) and we thought it was great we could see our home town on the menu but that is where the fun ended.

We ordered drinks and apps and when the server returned we ordered our main meals. I don't eat seafood so I ordered an appetizer for my main dish and I knew my DS would like it too.

An HOUR later we were still waiting, we had not seen our server. When we finally made eye contact, she explained that there had been a "back up" in the kitchen and I explained that did not think my DS would make it much longer (it is not easy to entertain a two year old in a high chair). She said she would look to see if his meal was ready. 5 minutes later she returned with what could best be described as mini hockey pucks for him.

10 more minutes and our meals came out, cold and mushy. She then disappeared again. After 30 more minutes, I got up and approached a manager. I told her about our issues and pointed out our server as she walked by. She said to the server, "This table needs attention." AND THEN WALKED AWAY!!

THe server brought the bill $140.00 and left. That was the last we saw of her.

There was no apology, no attempt to make it better, NOTHING. We were so disappointed as we were expecting a nice experience as it had come so highl recommended. I don't think we will be trying it again.

:guilty: :guilty:

Sorry you had a bad experience.

I've been to CTT probably 100 times and never had that experience.

Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks for the info Kevin, I love eating outside so I might just have to give Antonio’s a try in May.
