I am curious to see how this looked, any photos? No seats would bum me out also for that $$$.

Thanks for the link John great pics and info!!! It looks like fun but I would have been pissed about the table situation.

So...the entertainment was hula hoops? Wow -- that really was a high class affair. :teeth:

Hula hoops, acrobats, box twirler. :) I was jealous of the hula hoop lady. I wish I could do that.

hmm, looks just as I had pictured, I agree with Kevins take on it, I would much rather go spend all that out at WS instead of standing in a crowded room. Great review guys!!

I still need to listen to their take on the event. As someone who's been to a bunch of these over the years, I'm curious to hear what they thought of it.

From what I saw in replies, the table situation was brought up. Every year I hear that they should have more tables, but I think that defeats the real purpose of the party. Especially after I changed my typical "touring plan" at last year's Party.

As long as I can take my food porn pictures, I'm good to go. There will be a strong contingent of DISers at the 10/18 event. :grouphug:

I am interested to hear your take on the tables. Maybe we missed something.

No, actually it's pretty accurate. This is a snippet of something I wrote in my trip report from last October, meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but actually pretty scarily accurate about my "plan of action":

1. Arrive to check in at World Showplace at 6pm.
2. Pick up the menu, carrying plate and souvenir wine glass, and head inside.
3. Head to the front curtain and wait for the Running of the Bulls...er...dining event participants.
4. Push and shove my way inside when Pavlov rings the bell at 6:30pm. Knock all the people smaller and weaker than me out of the way in order to find a table.
5. Get Larded and Loaded for a few hours.

In reality, I did not do this. I didn't arrive in time for the Running of the Bulls, but my friends did get a table in the FAR section of the room. I've usually had a table in prior years, and I was able to use a friend's table as a base of action only when I was in their section of the massive room.

I found that I tackled the party a different way last year. Instead of finding food and bringing it back to the table all the time, I decided to zig-zag my way around all the stations. I was able to try at least one thing at each station, for the most part.

This year, I plan to do the same, starting in the back of the room in the Blue section and weave my way across every section towards the front of the room.

I noticed that someone already mentioned the purpose for for the colors. Someone dropped the ball this year when they printed the menus. They should have had all the food and wine items grouped by where they were by color. Hopefully someone who goes tonight will be able to tell us if they changed the menus back to what we expect them to be.

I'll certainly share after next week. ;)

There were no menus. Just the list of the chefs and wineries. It would have been nice to have a menu.

Thanks for the explanation.

Oops I need to clarify the menu comment. I meant that all the food descriptions you would see at the stations would be in the printed thing you received when you check in. This was the first time I've heard PFTS dropped the ball.

This is my first post by iPhone. Woot!

I would have much rather had a nice relaxed dinner at a restaurant.
